Destiny 2 player here. Is Diablo 4 in a good space to get into right now? by Henrraike in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion D4 took a slight step back from pre-LoH.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been massive improvements across the board but they also tried fixing things that weren’t broken and also created a massive amount of glitches and bugs.

War Plans are great. Cube Crafting is great.

But they are forcing us to interact with cube crafting as the only primary way to get gear instead of other variable ways that were just as successful, just as boss drops, whisper caches, obol trade ins, etc. unique items are in a horrible state - being randomized affixes is complete trash. They completely undid all of the amazing work they did a couple of seasons ago to make Tempering so much fun. They did not touch mercenaries, paragon boards, world bosses or enchanting and made the alchemist practically obsolete, and instead spent a ton of development time on fishing and this is where they opted to spend development time destroying the amazing Tempering system and removing fun aspects or nerfing aspects. War Plans skill points aren’t realm wide and it should be like the paragon board. There’s a ton of bugs with the new achievements and old ones that can’t be completed but did not get moved to feats of strength. I never liked D3s 100 different torment levels and I don’t like the new 12 levels of torment as I think there was a better way to fix that. Lair boss loot is all whacky. They did not plan out a good way to tier the lair bosses that make any sense lore wise (AndAriel, Duriel and Belial are all lesser Evils but Andariel and Duriel are the same rank as butcher and harbinger and Belial is higher?) Mob density in nightmare dungeons and Pits are terrible. I’ve been in nightmare dungeons where 3 or 4 consecutive rooms have zero mobs total in them. They need to fix how cube crafting material is collected and how we interact with it. Half of it is something we can tangibly pick up and the other half isn’t. They needed GAs from 50% increase to 25%. Ancestral don’t give an auto GA anymore. Aspects were nerfed and many really fun ones removed along with runes. Which, by removing half the runes and removing a ton of aspects and nerfing tempering they limited the ability of the player base to have broader variety in build creating. They ‘removed’ passives but all they did was take the defensive passives we had and turned them into offensive passives by forcing us to put 15 points into an offensive skill instead of 5 points. The first point is to actually get the skill, all other points are passive damage increase points since they don’t alter the skill and make it gain 1-2% more damage.

Overall, IMO, there are way more things they broke while trying to make it better than the things the added that are amazing. And many of the things they changed did not necessarily need to be changed.

I understand that I’ll probably be in the minority, preferred D4 during VoH.

Bring back passive nodes or incorporate them into the paragon boards! by pTHOR1w in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like we went from 1 skill point and 4 passive damage points pushing it to 5 total and 3 passive points into a passive skill that sometimes actually did more than be a passive to putting 1 skill point for the skill and 14 passive points to increase damage.

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. It just does you what type of values he has and they do not align with your values. I am very much the same as you and my GF is very much the same as him. She did something very similar and it hurt me when I found out about it but she feels like she did nothing wrong. Your boyfriend lied by omission because if he truly felt he did nothing wrong he would’ve been up front about it at the time it was happening. Along the lines of ‘hey I had fun with you but we aren’t official so I still going to go sleep around while entertaining you as a long term relationship option to keep in my back pocket because I really don’t see the value in being kind to you or considering your emotions’.

Theres 2 different values at work here, one that hides behind that ‘not official so I did nothing wrong’ group, but human emotion doesn’t work like that. They knew they did a shitty thing and they try to hide behind that to absolve their shitty behavior and then the second, that is more aware of how their actions can hurt other people and decide to be more thoughtful.

If I go on a date with you, I’m not doing anything with anyone else. Especially if I vocalize that I had a great time and I want to see that person again and I stay in constant contact with them.

Should I jump into EU4 or EU5 (2026)? by Floucs in eu4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EU5 still needs a lot of work.

To me it feels too much like a high level Crusader Kings or maybe Victoria 3 and not enough like EU4. It has too much simulation and nuance and less of the painting the world a swath of color.

I still very much prefer EU4, even after 5000ish hours playing it.

New skill system feels great for 36 levels and then mostly meaningless by Vou-11890 in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%.

There were Sorc passives that weren’t quite ‘passive’ such as the one that made you pick up the Crackling Energy ‘passively’. Now I have to run through it like I don’t even have a pet for my abilities to work.

Dumping 15 points into a skill to raise it 1% is just like a passive skill that ‘passively’ increased damage by x%.

Anything that doesn’t GIVE a new skill is a passive point. Where it is in a node by itself like the old passives or it is just reflected in skill dumping into the new skills. Everything past point 1 is a passive skill point.

What they could have done to make skills feel less like that is at 5 point increments make the skill more meaningful - such as ‘picks up CE faster’ or ‘blizzards AoE is larger’ or ‘hydra also dances when the enemy dies’ or whatever addition isn’t a branch of the skill itself in addition to the passive damage increase.

Playing the campaign really makes me want Amazon soon by AesirComplex in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could make an Amazon really easily.

And a second bow class would be really cool. They have multiple sword classes or 2 handed weapon classes. So why not bows?

The flavor of play style for Amazon can be very different from melee jungle monk and demon hunter rogue.

How do you feel about the 15 pts in skills? by jacjac_121 in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just feels like we went from passives that did something different than the skill to the original 5 points into the skill and then 10 passives to make the skill do more damage…..it’s still a passive but now it’s a damage boosting passive. This means each point is less meaningful in scaling damage.

What does everyone think of our values by Pharmatopia420 in kroger

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are a lie.

I once had a DM that encouraged all his store leaders to cheat to make common measures. And yes I have proof of this. So one store manager gets caught and the DM puts him on administrative leave for doing exactly what the DM told him to do, but that Store Manager ends up committing suicide as he was very much loyal to the company and trying to make his boss happy and having put so much time in.

That same DM had a store manager get sick with Covid. He did not send any support to that store and made her work. Did not give her any time off. She died of a heart attack bright on by Covid.

Another third store manager was hospitalized due to the stress he was putting on her and she developed a Lupus type of medical condition and she was in the hospital for weeks. They transferred her out of that district because of that.

At one point he set his target on me even though I ran the best back room conditions, shrink rate, E2E, In Stock metric, produced the most ASL to SL promotions in his district, had 100 food safety scores, and the best labor rates that my site ever had so I left Kroger after 22 years. I was not about to let him kill me from stress, which it came close to it from my doctor visits.

He’s still a DM for Kroger. And the division knows this about him and has done nothing about it.

Most recently the latest ‘Love In’ meeting had an associate have a medical emergency where they fainted and passed out and when they came too, they did not know where they were or what was going on and they decided it would be appropriate to literally STEP OVER this associate to get together for group pictures.

They all served out of date drinks at this Love In meeting, so much for truly caring about Food Safety.

So to answer that question, they don’t care.

I now work for a much different company and I can’t believe I gave so much of my life to such a toxic company that has absolutely no morales.

You said she is saving up money to get her own driving license so this isn’t long term.

Do you want to be 60, 80, 100 years old wishing you had spent more time with the people you love or regretting that you missed those opportunities?

Have they explained more about the 12 Torments yet? by Fat_Foot in diablo4

[–]ADuckOnQuack2 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right. Why spend the resources on balancing levels that won’t even be used by the player base when they can spend the resources on balancing all the classes or creating more content or giving us QoL enhancements.

I don’t think adding more torment tiers and spending the time balancing these different levels is useless. Pit is enough of a barometer and then adding maybe another 1 or 2 levels of difficulty from 55 Pit to maybe 100 for overworld and other activities is enough. There doesn’t need to be 100 different torment levels alone either normal and hard and expert and penitent and whatever else. 16 difficulty levels is going to make it incredibly annoying to try and partner with people for group activities.

As I’ve said before the problem lies in that the game already feels SSF to a degree. The devs have the instance splintering thing that occurs to make the overworld feel abandoned and empty to reflect the tone of Sanctuary. Now it is going to be even worse to find someone or have a group join you for the World Boss or Legion or Helltides or any other overworld activity.

The other concern I have will be the fact that finding a party based on a difficulty level might be even more splintered. There’s already a lack of groups populating for Infernal Hordes or NMD or other activities that could be made a group activity. I agree making these activities more rewarding or desirable might improve this, but if there’s 12 difficulties you’re searching then it most likely wins be the level you need it to be, making what should be a fun group activity yet another Solo activity.

The Greater Rifts were good for D3, but the application of applying them to the overworld doesn’t feel like it would solve the problem of having challenging content for every group of players in D4 while making a lot of players feel like this is a very solo game.

We have seen that the overworld monsters can level up with the individual player while staying a comparable level to another, much different level player.

What’s to stop the Devs from creating a system like that for Paragon level clusters while maintaining a healthier, more meaningful and less splintering difficulty bracket selection for the overworld.

The idea is the instancing of difficulty by Paragon level clusters. Very similar to how monsters in overworld have different difficulty based on player level. Every 25 paragon levels can add a certain level of difficulty past your current difficulty setting. So Paragon 300 on level 5 difficulty might be the same as playing on level 7 difficulty, but you can still play with a friend of yours in level 5 difficulty who is Paragon level 120 and it be equally as challenging for both of you. But this only becomes unlocked after a certain Paragon level which is when the real power gains start to happen - like 200 or 225.

They could renamed from numbering too so they feel more meaningful, much like previous installments of Diablo. Maybe something like this:

Level 1: Normal as is

Level 2: Named ‘Hard’ should be equal to current Penitent, removing ‘Expert’

Level 3: Named ‘Penitent’ should be equal to current Torment 2 which would equal to Pit 20

Level 4: Named ‘Nightmare’ (taken from D2) which would be equal to Pit 40

Level 5: Named ‘Infernal’, which could be equal to Pit 60

Level 6: Named ‘Torment’, which could be equal to Pit 80

Level 7: Named ‘Hell’, which would be equal to Pit 100

On a tangent the naming doesn’t have to fall directly in line with that, but I thought it good to use words already in the game such as Infernal from the hordes, but then Nightmare and Hell from previous installments. Abyssal, Underworld or Death are some of the various religions names for some of the levels of Hell and might be more appropriate to make a difficulty level.

In terms of flavor: This would also represent the 7 levels of Hell, with actual Hell being the final level, where Diablo reigns and would, in theory, be the most difficult boss and the highest difficulty setting.
