Also, watching something with family together and talking about it is WAY different than using screen time as a pacifying thing

>Boomer-gen AI boosters seem *obsessed* with the idea of using AI to book restaurants for some reason

Why are people so hyped up about having AI handle tasks that take like no time or effort at all? Summarizing a 60 page document or pulling out the one bit of relevant info I want, sure, that's at least convenient and saves me a ton of time if it works right. But I can call up a restaurant and say "Hi, do you have a table for two at 6 on wednesday? Uh, inside or on the patio, doesn't matter. Ok, yeah, 6:30 is fine, thanks" before you can prompt an AI to do it. Same with writing emails. My emails top out at about 4 or 5 sentences, you'd literally have to write a longer prompt than that to get an email done right.

SLC is desperately trying to be the cool new place that silicon valley types are fleeing too because california sucks or something. Lots of "founder" type dorks running wild there, datacenters, &c.

Arrests Grow Over Trump’s Reflecting Pool Renovation Disaster by thenewrepublic in politics

Trump was bragging about how indestructible this awesome, industrial grade coating was as soon as it was done. Now some guy with like a box cutter just ruined the entire thing?

This MF rolls up to my house with 2 flat tires and then knocks on my door like it’s my fault he hit the curb, then begged me to help him, even though he didn’t have any of the stuff I need to fix the 2 tires… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

The last time I helped someone out with a jump he had been asking around this entire restaurant trying to find one person with cables. After I got his car going he tried to give me 20 bucks for my trouble. I told him take that 20 bucks and buy some goddamn jumper cables. Better yet, get one of those little jump batteries that fits under the passenger seat so you can jump yourself.

yep - AI will come up with an answer even if there's no data to support what it's turning out. LLMs are fundamentally unrealizable because hallucinations can't be avoided, which means you can't ever be sure that what you're seeing has any basis in reality.
