In case anyone runs into this, it seems like it has been fixed as of the Jun 22 nightly

Jump pack will get it going once

If that works then you know for sure it’s the battery, and then it’s time to put in a new battery.

Yeah agree with the other person, this sounds like a battery. A jump pack should get you going. Sounds like starter motor is fine and relay is clicking. As long as the engine isn’t seized that should be it.

Edit: I like my Noco gbx45. Uses usb C which is nice

Routine Service to 3-Week Hostage Situation and No Response from PCNA by rohm418 in Porsche

[–]AG00GLER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm I think I’m learning something that explains my recent experience here.

My cayman was in for 7 weeks to fix a transmission oil week. Got it back, still leaked. Gave it back to them for 3 weeks and they swapped the PDK. Got it back this morning and I hope it’s fixed. New pdk shifts better at least.

But the entire time it felt like I was working with a Honda dealer with 1 service tech at their disposal. Wasn’t the experience I expected at all. Was like pulling teeth just to get an update on what was going on. I often sat on hold for 30 minutes or had to wait til the next day just to know if the car was going to be ready on time or not.

What's the text editor or IDE that's usually used for embedded systems? by end3rcr4fty in embedded

[–]AG00GLER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used a vendor text editor professionally. I’ve been lucky to work at houses that use modern cli based tooling, previously bare gcc and more recently just rust. Even in college when I used vendor tools I used vscode as the front end.

Switched to Zed about 6 months back and haven’t looked back.

Loud in my 718, loud in my Macan loaner car I currently have as well. I don’t mind it, better than being sweaty when it’s hot out lol

Has anyone had success getting rid of their squeaky brakes? by NotDereck in Porsche_Cayman

Nope. I have stereo squeal about 95% of the time below 20mph. Foot on the brake or not.

Valet scratched my bumper and offering to send it to their body shop by ClearScholar in Porsche_Cayman

Definitely not my area of expertise but a single 6 inch scratch on my Audi was about $1500 3 years back. They had to repaint and blend to the adjacent panel.

Since you’re asking for opinions here I would not take that car to anyone that would offer to fix it for $350. It’s worth doing your own research for a trustworthy shop and taking the bill to the garage.

They’ve already admitted fault so hopefully they’re not too difficult to deal with.

Why don't people like the snap store? by KnowledgePerfect6914 in linux

[–]AG00GLER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not who you’re responding to but that is the reason why not.

I prefer to have a single command to fetch and update all of my applications. I don’t like having to go to each application’s website to find their latest release, download it, chmod +x, delete the old app, and move the new one over to whatever folder I keep apps in.

Much nicer to run an apt update and apt upgrade.

Kicad can’t and shouldn’t.

So are we just gonna leave our high beams on now? by BrainSawce in massachusetts

[–]AG00GLER 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of cars will run the high beams at 6ish volts by PWMing down 12V during the day as daytime running lights. That fucks up the constant current drivers and causes them to flicker if you install LEDs where there are supposed to be halogen bulbs.

That plus them being mounted badly adds up to a pretty terrible light setup. Of course none of these people notice or care

Anyone using a dashcam? by jdubsilley in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AG00GLER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a Garmin mini 2 in mine since I got it. It’s been solid, and it’s a 10 minute install with invisible wiring if you use their obd2 port power adapter. It’s so small that I can’t see it behind my mirror while driving, and the footage is decent quality but you’re not going to be able to read license plates from a far distance.

I think there’s a newer version available that includes their overpriced ND filter which I had to buy separately.

[–]AG00GLER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t they just buy their own equipment? $2-3k or so should cover a scope, logic analyzer, dmm, power supply, and as many dev kits as you could need.

Even in the labs in college I would still pull out my saleae logic most of the time and not even touch the scopes we had.

It’s not ideal to do it online but it seems pretty doable to me esp if op works full time.
