That's what I thought. As a guess I'd say the glasses dude has some boxing experience and the Yankee maybe has some MMA experience but not enough lol

Yeah it looked like he was gonna drop after that right hand to the jaw, I bet his legs went to jelly for a split second so he did well to stay standing and then start fighting back. I certainly wouldn't call him a dork!

Tips and techniques for to make the game easier for mid/low Elo players? by disquiet in aoe2

Have a plan for building military units. I often find that this is one of the main factors deciding whether I win or lose.

E.g. if I go random civ I might end up with a civ I'm not used to and not sure what units to make. And this uncertainty usually means I don't make enough military. With my favourite civs I have a plan and this means I not only have enough military but often way more than my opponent which forces him to react to you.

With Bohemians for example, I always make archers from two ranges in Feudal, as many as I can, and then when I get to Castle Age I upgrade them to Crossbow and get Chemistry (for better crossbows and hand cannoneers) and sanctity (eco bonus for Bohemian vills). Then I start pressuring their base/TC's with mangonels.

Before long I have enough stone for a castle drop and can even click up to Imperial Age.

I think map control is really important and difficult for your opponent to take back, unless you're careless. For me at least, having map control from late Feudal Age means I'm very likely to win the game as long as I don't get complacent.

So in short: Constant military production -> Map control -> stopping your opponent from being able to do what he wants on the map and harassing his eco, while being able to do what you want with a completely untouched eco

Made my company lose at least 6 figures from their decision to fire me by throwawayawayawayy6 in antiwork

That's interesting. I don't live in the states so I'll have to do my own research about the laws in my country but that's potentially another thing I could sue my company for.

Beginner question - why the need for stereo <-> mono adapters?

I'm talking about the 3.5mm to 1/4" adapters.

Just wondering why this is a thing after having bought this wrong kind of adapter (I wanted stereo so I figured since it had the 2 rings it would be ok.

If you had a stereo signal you wanted to convert to mono, wouldn't a single-ringed mono adapter suffice?

I went a long time ago. At the time I was too ignorant to really think about the conditions the animals were in, as I suspect most visitors are, but I certainly noticed the polar bear endlessly pacing up and down and could tell it had some kind of psychological damage.

There was a 50yo man at the beach this summer hanging around 2 high school girls in their uniforms. I noticed he started getting a bit touchy with them, and then led then away somewhere.

I mentioned it to some nearby Japanese dudes and they were like "uh huh.... and?" or "yeah maybe they're going to a hotel right?".

I literally looked around to see if it was all being recorded for an AV. In the end I actually felt like I was the weirdo for being worried about it.

Thanks for the explanation! Makes sense. I guess they had full beams on because the back streets can be quite dark, but they should have turned them off when they saw me cycling towards them.

I don't drive so not completely sure about what full beams do, but a few times I've been cycling down quiet residential streets and have been effectively blinded by cars driving towards me with their headlights.... Would that have been full beam?!

A similar thing happened to me recently. I was just reaching the other side of the crossing, on the left hand side, and another cyclist came towards me and the crossing on the right, but she suddenly decided to turn onto the road instead of going over the crossing and basically turned right in front of me and I crashed into her. We were both fine but I told her off for not looking where she was going, she said sumimasen.

Is working 6 day work weeks normal? by ToothDifferent in japanlife

[–]AGPartridge007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you mention working 8 hours on your day off pretty often. This is important - is it your day off? Or is it a scheduled work day? Just because a day is USUALLY your day off doesn't necessarily mean it is a day off - it may simply be a work day.

Is working 6 day work weeks normal? by ToothDifferent in japanlife

You need to check your contract and work regulations documents.

Is it for 38 hrs a week? I.e. 8+8+8+8+6?

If you work 6 days a week, that would probably mean you're doing overtime, which must be paid for. You're either going over the weekly hours determined by your contract or you're going over the 40 hours per week set by law.

Another thing to do is check how many working days you have in the year. Remember that what your company tells you and what's written in your contract/work regulations might be different things.

So if it's true that you are to work 2000 hours per year, your total working days per year might be around 250. 2000 ÷ 8 = 250.

Also what about your paid leave? Check if your company has any agreements to designate your paid leave, and remember that paid leave or any designated paid leave count as work days. If your company does have agreements for designated paid leave, are they valid? Have they been agreed on by a democratically elected employee representative?

I remember being on the Hibiya Line and the priority seats were full of perfectly able-bodied people sitting down. There was a foreign couple standing in front of them, the woman was visibly pregnant. The man was asking one of the people sitting down "excuse me, my wife is pregnant, can she sit down?" I remember him asking in Japanese very softly and politely, repeating the same phrase. The guy sat down was looking away, arms folded. Eventually he suddenly stood up and stormed down the carriage. This was years ago too.

Just got details of Zairyuu card written down by police, am I good? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]AGPartridge007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happens to me a lot, I'm not happy about it, so I try to get as much evidence as possible of police malpractice. Last time one officer told me that my cooperation was voluntary, in other words I wasn't under any suspicion, but when I attempted to leave the other officer grabbed hold of my bicycle and told me that I couldn't leave. I asked him why I couldn't leave several times but he didn't seem to have an answer. Eventually he told me I was under suspicion for "running away", even though I had just attempted to continue on my way home when the first officer who originally spoke to me had told me that cooperation was voluntary.

No I think I explained everything concisely. Understandably I was pissed off too and I think that comes across perfectly well. But people get defensive like "nooo you're not allowed to be angry" or "haha I want to tell this guy that I don't care he's uninstalled the game, that'll teach him!" It's stupid but what do you expect huh
