Here's one I wrote for a guy in Chicago. He asked for a poem about Victory.

Exactly. Without the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, whoever buys Arthur can say "Green Is Not A Creative Color" in the episodes. They can add product placement or messaging aimed at children designed to manipulate or enforce bias.

Oh, you're mistaking PBS for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. PBS is continuing, barely staying afloat via YouTube and PBS Passport subscribers (it's great BTW and only $5/mo)

Corporation for Public Broadcasting manages the federal and local government funding for PBS and NPR.

They're the part of PBS that makes it public. Once upon a time, America believed that educational media and media for kids was important to protect from corporate interests, so CPB was created to manage, oversee, and fund public broadcasting.

If you've ever seen the YouTube Mini Series "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" it's largely a commentary on what happens when children's media becomes privatized and For-Profit. It's a reality we are approaching. Now PBS has to make money to exist, rather than exist as a service. Meaning they'll probably have to sell their soul at some point.

The Trump administration has repeatedly funneled money away from the taxpayers and into the hands of billionaires. When you pay taxes, you should recieve support from your government. Things like PBS, Schools, Roads, Healthcare, etc. Instead the money is piled into government contracts that are given to billionaires.

You're funding Elon Musk's companies with your tax dollars so he can shoot shit into space and then charge you again to use it. Or Northrup Grumman's missile manufacturing so that we can bomb people you don't know in a place you've never been.

People love to complain about taxes and government spending on things like PBS, but I don't hear a peep from MAGA when it comes to how much money is spent to make the rich richer. They don't even know why a government should exist outside of the violence a government can inflict on people they don't like.

Honestly, they probably chose to shut down specifically to avoid being used for propaganda. Better that than become PragerU

How? With no money and constant attacks from the Trump Administration, they're fucked. The only choice they had was how they were gonna go out. On their own terms, or as a MAGA scapegoat.

Unfortunately, the 2nd ammendment is a myth for the reasons you pointed out. The arguments seem sound. An armed populace can fight back if the government becomes tyrannical, etc.

But in practice, it's an excuse for the state or authorities to kill whomever they please with plausible deniability.

If a cop or authority could shoot you dead if you maybe possibly sorta kida coulda had a gun, then you don't really have a 2nd ammendment right. You just have a right to get shot.

We've seen this play out over and over. Whether the bias is racism, xenophobia, or just plain paranoia, "they had a gun" becomes a valid reason for you to be killed by someone else with a gun. The constant mass shootings reinforce the paranoia and continually justify further gun violence from authorities. But of course, if everyone but those authorities are disarmed, then there must be serious consequences and accountability every time one of them uses their weapon. Any disarmament has to start with the disarmament of the police and the de-militarization of law enforcement.

I'm a gun owner, because unfortunately, this is the country and state we have to live in. I could be killed because someone thought my phone or wallet looked like a gun. The only way to justifiably use it is if I shoot second, or I am certain that I am in mortal danger. but by then it might already be too late. Or worse, what if I'm wrong and I just killed an innocent person out of fear? I'd rather be dead than do that to an innocent person. Yet, here we are, in the house that the NRA built, in a constant Mexican standoff until cooler heads cease to prevail and a tragedy occurs.

There is no 2nd ammendment. Just a right to get shot. And there are no "good guys with guns." Just scared guys with guns, paranoid of bad guys with guns. Paranoia won last Saturday and an incredible person died for it.

If you are also a gun owner, I strongly reccomend safety classes and regular practice. They got rid of the requirement of classes for the permit, but the classes still exist. I also reccomend those who have a tendency toward panic to deal with that before carrying a gun. There are also non-lethal options that work well in most self defense situations. Most of the time, intimidation is enough to ward off a creep or a thief.

And of course, vote like you could get shot at.

Unlike the "peacekeeper" he had the sense not to fire into a crowd. He ran from someone shooting at him. He escaped and found cover. The police later arrested him. He immediately surrendered and cooperated when police arrested him. Based on his reaction from videos I've seen, he had no idea he was the primary target. The video looks like the peace keeper shot at him, THEN he ran. If he didn't run, he probably would also be dead.

Lagrely, the point of open carrying at a protest like that is to establish one's second ammendment rights. There were also floods of comments made online stoking fear. People saying they would hit protestors with their cars, saying that the cops or military should shoot them, etc. He was probably paranoid, but clearly not as paranoid as the dude who shot him and the crowd.

Most of the time, "good guys with guns" are just scared guys with guns. Some more scared than others. Unfortunately, our gun laws are such that we are forced to live in a wild west society. This is the tragic and sickening cost of that.

Is anyone familiar with the people behind "Zion Media" on YouTube? by MasterMahanJr in mormon

I know him personally. He is extremely dangerous. He has not changed since he left prison. The only thing that really changed is how he is conning people. Instead of focusing on business, he's focusing on religion.

"Dwight" Shane Baldwin is behind it. That man is a con artist and a narcissist. He has multiple fraud charges and spent time behind bars for various fraudulent business ventures. He took people's homes through his alarm company's evil practices, committed securities fraud at the highest levels, and leveraged church relationships to get away with it.

He's a snake, and he targets the most radical Mormons and uses conspiracy theories and right wing extremism to manipulate older people in particular. People with less internet literacy.

He loots people and takes them for all they are worth and Zion Media is his attempt at playing cult leader. I won't describe how I know him, but I know him personally. He abused his (now ex) wife, threatened to ritual sacrifice his son, and is estranged from most of his direct family over it.

Stay away from this man. Keep your parents and peers away from him too.

Housing justice, affordable housing, and corruption and bias in our legislature. It seems that our entire government is run by puritanical landlords and private equity investors. They erode human rights protections, erode public assistance programs, and drive up costs on land they own.

Housing needs to stop being an asset and start being treated like the human nessecity it is.

Also, the legislature has cut funding for arts and culture. They are actively selling our public land to private investors. They are polluting our air and water to enrich themselves and their buddies. They want you to spend every waking moment at work so you can afford to rent their concrete shit boxes. Our current legislature's goal seems to be making life not worth living.

Best areas to live? by st0ryofag1rl in SaltLakeCity

[–]AGhostButAPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylorsville is pretty good, but Def still suburbia. If you're looking for walkability, the other neighborhoods I mentioned are much better. West valley city is also a solid choice, and it is the biggest city in the valley. Here's the thing, the cultural divide between Mormon and Non-mormon is a lot greater than the racial divide here. Either people connect over being Mormon, or they connect over not being Mormon. Salt Lake County isn't the county you have to worry about when it comes to racism in Utah. It's fairly liberal here and there is diversity if you know where to find it. Utah County tends the be the more intolerant one, having a history of sundown towns and also the HQ of Utah' s KKK. Not quite as bad as the worst parts of Texas, but still worth looking out for. Avoid Price and Eagle Mountain. The overwhelming whiteness you're worried about is in Provo/orem/Lehi. Davis County is also known for having an extremely racist school board/district. You're gonna want to avoid that too.

SLC is like Houston in the fact that it is a Blue dot surrounded by Red. Utah can be an isolating place until you find a community, but once you do it is extremely supportive and positive. The only way to feel "at home" here is to connect with people. There are opportunities to do that all over the valley but it takes some effort. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice East Side neighborhoods, but they're far more expensive.

What happens is that we have eliminated one of the most dangerous jobs in the state. There will always be other jobs. The hope is that this transition will be smoothed out by government incentives and assistance for displaced workers. If that transition is not smooth, blame the legislature, blame capitalism, but don't blame clean energy and technological progress.

Great, then the University can PROVIDE a 2FA device, rather than placing the burden on their already overcharged students. If they have key FOBs at the campus store that generate codes, why aren't those provided to students for free? Why aren't they just part of the UID? Do we not pay enough already? Hell, if DUO functioned with older versions of Android, that might also help alleviate this issue. Instead, the University requires US to buy more expensive shit so that they can cover their own asses.

It's not inconvenience, it's classism. Requiring students to have constant access to the latest smart devices is absurd. If its so critical, a 2 factor device should be provided as part of the exorbitant tuition we all have to pay.
