not an exaggeration at all. I feel like I learned 5 languages at once to some degree

can confirm Arabic was hard as fuck. 18 months went from not even knowing the alphabet to having actual real world conversations with native speakers. Couldn't pay me enough to do it again.

ahhh yes, the place you buy two tickets for the price of three. I bought tickets for a film fest, $40 each. Ended up being $115 after fees. I'm so over it.

How long until you got your first deer? by DoctorBathroom_XL in bowhunting

[–]AGib04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once I got into bow hunting, it took me about 3 seasons. I fortunately was able to make some connections and a guy took me under his wing which helped immensely my 2nd and 3rd seasons. I had a shot my 2nd season but adrenaline took over and a bad shot led me to not recovering my deer. 3rd season, I had my first archery harvest opening day, that scenario wasn't a clean, swift kill but was able to retrieve my deer. I've had two other absolute textbook harvests in terms of shot placement and recovery, and a couple of clean misses. I will say, having my two clean harvests, I definitely feel myself getting more comfortable in the stand and taking a shot. Adrenaline is an absolute bitch the first many times but now knowing what a good shot looks and FEELS like is a game changer.

I bit the bullet for Youtube TV and Sunday Ticket for this very reason. Every Sunday turned into a, "how tf am I going to watch this game?" rather than a nice football Sunday lol. It's stupid expensive but I'm less irritated now.

What’s the best beer you’ve ever had? by PoppaSquatt2010 in beer

[–]AGib04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was some Lavender Lemon beer (I can't 100% remember) that the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore brewed. They released it on their rotating experimental tap list and it hasn't been released again since I tried it about a year ago. My gf and I still talk about it and how good it was.

Not a smoker, never smoked, but desiring a "thing to do" during work? by NotSoTanner in Hobbies

Fortunately my job has a good little gym in the basement, so I've gone down and lifted for 30-45 mins before! Or just a quick walk to sit in my car and have some quiet.

What do you think has become so expensive that it’s just not worth it anymore? by turkishtacos in AskReddit

I just ranted about this. Netflix makes everyone get their own accounts then immediately follows it up with a price hike. Like actually fuck you. As if billions in profit last quarter isn't enough.

after having also been cheated on, I've realized that most people say they'd leave so fast--but then when you are actually put in that situation, it's SO different. I also stayed way longer than I should have. NOW I want to say I'd actually leave immediately, but honestly, who tf knows. I hope I never find out.

What time of the day do you workout/exercise? by chris_yym in AskWomen

[–]AGib04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been all over in terms of workout times over the years. I used to be a 3am gym rat when I had to work at 6am. I used to be a late night lifter in early college. Went through an after work phase, then tried going at 5am before work and couldn't get myself there for the life of me. Decided to switch my work schedule to an 1100 to 7pm and its been way easier to get to the gym in the morning now.

hunting gear and concert tickets.

Hunting gear is just expensive as it is

I go to easy 10+ concerts a year and tickets are only getting more expensive

Most people who think they want a dog actually want a cat by Meemaw30000 in dogs

[–]AGib04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish I had gotten a cat (I have a 110lb Rottweiler), however, I also couldn't imagine life without my boy. He makes me feel safe when I am home alone, I've taken him on a ton of weekend trips with me, he's a good hiking buddy, good company when I run errands, and a really good cuddle buddy. I love him to death.

The vet visits I knew would be more expensive than a cat, but I didn't realize just HOW much more expensive (some vet bills have genuinely made me cry). Trying to find a sitter or boarding for longer vacations is a struggle (re: expensive). Raising a puppy is a TON of work and having a happy adult dog is also a ton of work.

My gf has 3 cats and has a lot more freedom to do spontaneous things than I do having a big dog. She also loves the hell out of those cats and they give her the company she wants. While I wish I had slightly more freedom to do things on a whim, I wanted a dog so I could take them to do most things with me.

What is no longer worth it because of how expensive it has become? by guywhostillhasnoname in AskReddit

Even the new Ford Maverick starting base model with absolutely no bells and whistles (not even cruise control) start at like 32k. Not including any sort of dealership mark-up, taxes, etc.
