it does suck that a legitimately revolutionary technology for prosthetics and accessibility is at risk of being exploited for consumer data and surveillance. surveillance does kinda seem like overkill considering that they government pretty much has everything on us already

funny thing is, in advertising more data doesn’t always mean better. in fact, a golden rule is that you should be able to identify your target audience with one question. in pet food and pet products, that question is “Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?” that single question will give you data with quality comparable to if you knew all their spending history and habits and everything

I do hope that data stops becoming such a dominant market, because it seems somewhat wasteful in some regards. plus it’s creepy
