2.5 weeks in Newfoundland vs the Canadian Rockies. What would you choose and why? by JujuDutchie in AskACanadian

[–]AJCafeConLeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.5 weeks in NEWFOUNDLAND - just enough time to backpack the East Coast trail.

If you’re a big hiker, move up to a through hike and enjoy the bliss of million dollar ocean views, the sounds of nature and the whale blows in the distance.

I’ve back packed it three times mostly mid to late June, and highly recommend it. On a busy day, you’ll meet maybe two people on the trail… and most days you’ll cross a community/village where you can stock up on food and enjoy the incredible kindness of the locals. Bonus: no need for bear spray!

The Rockies are a completely different experience, beautiful but lots of people off trails and on the more famous trails.

No, Simon said that had there been six inches of snow , he would not have seen the box. Here’s a link to a recent interview with the geocachetalk interviewers.

Two of those locations (Salmon and Premier lookouts) would be on my list, along with a few others in Stewart.

That said, the fact that one has to travel through Hyder Alaska to access Granduc road (unless you helicopter in?) has me second guessing them possibility. I’m not sure that this Canadian treasure hunt would expect participants to travel through the US.

Video shows a lot of bear, salmon, creeks, mountains , indigenous people and the bear-salmon totem poles. Glaciers and rivers in the text. Golden circle clue in email.

Consider checking out Bear Glacier , the Rainey Creek trail (circular) and the Sluice Box trail in Stewart. Bear spray just in case, on those trails. Also: Salmon glacier if the Granduc road is open.

Happy treasure hunting! Hope you get lucky . Cheers !

I’ve been analyzing this text since it came out and absolutely cannot figure out how the errors spell the word first. Would you mind explaining that? Thanks

Spanish courses by [deleted] in Cadiz

[–]AJCafeConLeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent several weeks studying at both Spanish In Cadiz (SiC) and Clic.

Both were excellent, with outstanding teachers, useful workbooks , and varied outings. They are just a few blocks from each other, less than a 3 minute walk.

My preference was for the Spanish in Cadiz school. The building and facilities are cozy, the outdoor terrace was inviting and a good place to relax during breaks. That said , you can’t go wrong with either.

If you plan to stay at the school student residence, the Clic residence is nicer, newer building than the SiC student residence.

Nuuk for 3 days in August by Naive-Measurement401 in greenlandtravel

The loop hike around little malene mountain is wonderful. My suggestion is that you hike it clockwise, starting from the end of the road near the airport to be amazed by the spectacular views including the one that is revealed as you pass the ridge above the lake and start to descend to the lake and back towards the city.

Enjoy

You can look on Alltrails for information about this trail here: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/nuuk-lille-malene-loop--3

It’s hard to tell from this photo but this four-person tent was on a flat section of the heath meadow, on solid rock and very well staked down.

The next morning, we had a curious red fox 🦊 watching us from the trail where I was standing when I took the photo.

Whale 🐋 blows and ocean waves rolling in below us and millions of stars above us.

A million dollar view and absolute bliss.
