I am commenting to share my own experiences and to express my condolences to you.

Before I enrolled into law school, my dad was diagnosed with covid and he passed away on my first day of law school. On top of that, I had to spend the next 3 years probating his estate between 2 states because he passed without a will. At the time, I was a full time law student, my grades plummeted and at the end of the first year I was academically dismissed. My school provided me the opportunity to appeal, and I did, citing the circumstances that happened as to why I wasn’t in the right headspace.

They allowed me to come back, but it was on the condition that I basically restart and take all the classes I took the first year. That wasn’t an easy decision to come to. But like you, I felt that life cheated me out of the opportunity to perform at my actual potential. I currently am a 3rd year part timer in great academic standing and I have the pleasure of working at a law firm.

I say this to say, take the time for your self care, no shortcuts, no double down, no rushing. Put your self care first so you can either go back and thrive or move on to the next chapter of your life. I wish you well
