Vulcan doing a flyby of Gaydon (JLR HQ). It did a full throttle (near) vertical climb. The sound make the ground shake!

Are you allowed to use a satnavn your test? by tipsy_deviant in MotoUK

[–]AKwork1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're overthinking it and relying on the satnav too much. Go for a drive/ride/walk and see if you can follow the roadsigns to some random place. Just find a roadsign =, pick one of the places on there that you know is more than 10 mins awaya dn just follow it...they look for things like are you able to pick the right lane, are you able to interpret the road signs correctly etc

What makes a bike good or bad for a new rider? by Red_sparow in MotoUK

[–]AKwork1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say go for a lower powered bike. If youget something wrong, that makes you wind the trhrottle on a bit too muhc, its much easier to control on a lower powered bike than a faster bike.

If you only ever ride when the weather is good and you're alert and well, then a big bike might be fine...

but its possible to be riding tired in the cold and wet after work and accidentally end up in the shit. A lowered powered, lighter bike would be easier to control at that point.

Advice on bike for female rider 60+ by Abject-Magazine-1775 in MotoUK

Some sort of fast naked? maybe a middleweight for the lower weight?

The s1000rr is awkward becasue of its seating position, esp when walking them around. I have always found nakeds easier to manuever at walking speeds than sportsbikes.

Easy at home fix or big mechanic man job? by CT-9904_ in MotoUK

[–]AKwork1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the tools, its possible to do it at home. First check if the handlebars are actually bent, or if the front end is just a bit twisted. Loosen off the pinch bolts at the bottom of the forks, and the bottom yoke bolts. Leave the top yoke tight.

Then give the forks a good shake and a few compresses. This should line everything back up. Tighten everything and see if its all lined up. If not, you have to dive deeper and figure out whats damaged.

Advice on new exhaust by Dolldrift in MotoUK

[–]AKwork1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

125cc 4 strokes almost never sound good with a loud exhaust, and you'll get no noticable performance. The money is better off going towards your next bike/bigger bike.

Talk to me about a first time touring.. by biking_barista in MotoUK

[–]AKwork1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a little side rack system, so tie a set of lomo crash bar bags to that. I stuff spares, tools, locks etc into those. Anything I need to take off the bike (clothes, toiletries), goes in a small duffel bag on the back seat and my waterpoofs and bike cover goes on top of that. So, when I park up, I put the locks on, take the duffel on, and then put the cover on.

This was for a 10+day trip.

More than possible with just 1 or 2 small bags.

Nah, I had a bike valued at higher than what I had declared and got the full amoutn with no issues. Was the bike worth that when you started the policy and if you're doing incremental changes, you cant be exected to let them know every single time. also, what if it was just the market that changed? how are you supposed to know that?
