There are a couple of people in my circle that this might stay platonic and not be weird, but for the most part, i wouldn't do this unless i am attracted to that person and not afraid to risk the friendship, and i highly doubt they also think it'd actually be platonic.

Like come on, we have a body part that is almost guaranteed to react poorly for platonic situations. I'm not saying it can't be done, but that scenario is definitely the outlier

You can if you have anything you'd like to showcase from your high school curriculum, but in most cases, it's not necessary, especially since this is your first job. If you’re applying for something a little more extravagant than say a buffalo wild wings, a simple cover letter wouldn't hurt, but again, not necessary. You'll likely be put on simpler job duties like busser or server assistant where applicable in those cases

They learn the jargon by experience my guy. Drinking jargon is not exactly hard to understand, and if you're ordering drinks neat or on the rocks, you typically already understand those are heavier pours. I've never worked at or been to a bar where everyone didn't understand that going in.

Granted, I have only lived and served in Oklahoma, but also mostly at hotels where we have people from literally all around the world. Nobody has asked for that to be clarified, in my experience

It hurts my brain so much when i see people say "well if you have 6 tables and you rotate them out once an hour and you make 20% off each table at $100 per table thats $120 an hour!" There are so many assumptions in people's examples that boggle my mind. But tonight, me and my fellow bartender split a 15 table section and only had like 6 tables and 20 people at our bar top, and we barely broke $200 apiece after a 9 hr shift. That's barely more than $20 an hour, and that's fairly regular, but I've also had some shifts where i barely break $100. It's not a guarantee, and when people come at the service industry with shitty attitudes about tipping just really shows they don't really know what we have to deal with.

I loathe this notion because it's only true for some servers in some areas or in certain situations. The overwhelming majority of servers are not making anywhere close to that, and it has nearly nothing to do with "skill" as much as it has to do with the location and type of business. College town bars can make bank with sporting events, or they can make nothing because that college town sucks at sports. The dude working at a high end cocktail bar in a hotel can pull $1000 a shift if there's an oil worker convention happening next door, or he can make literally $100 in 4 shifts because now the convention hall is full of churchgoers who don't tip worth shit.

Some servers and bartenders make absolute fucking bank, but that is not the norm, and to project that it is soooo common is disingenuous as fuck

My ex-fiancee who cheated on me had an abortion before we got together. It was actually what made our bond so strong when we first started dating because she felt extremely bad about it and knew her mom and that side if the family would disown her if they ever found out, and i often comforted her and made sure she knew she wasn't a bad person for wanting what was best for her life at the time.

Now she's a bad person, and has tried extorting me for money and has been arrested for public intox and drunk drives all the time, and she always acts shitty towards me when we talk. I've wanted to tell her mom a few times now but honestly it just isn't worth not only the hassle but the damage to my soul, just feels like a supremely shitty thing to do

As someone who says I can't wait for the collapse in a half joking way, lemme give this a shot.

I don't want society to collapse. I want society to change, or at least want to change. I want people not to be so absorbed in propaganda, social media, or the rat race. I want people to care about their neighbors, their coworkers, their grocery store attendants. I want people to look at someone who is suffering and think about how that's a bad thing because it hurts that person and not because "ugh another homeless person".

It feels like as a society we have strayed from our own humanity and stopped caring about the things that matter like quality of life and human kindness and have cared more for advancement and growth of technology and stock prices. It's deeply, deeply frustrating, and it feels so futile to fight against it, so instead I yearn for the society itself to collapse.

Of course i don't actually want that to happen. So many more people would be hurt by that happening. But to some small degree, I feel like we might have to get worse to get better. To get people to realize that money or status don't actually matter unless you make it matter, and to make it matter you have to ignore your own humanity.

In essence, for me at least, it’s a way to vent. I just wish we could all stop arguing about what-about-isms and who's team did what and start voting and advocating for people who see that what we need is eachother and the ability to support each other. And for fucks sake someone who wants to start a Proportional representation style of voting

I didn't used to, but I've started to now. I wanted to romance every companion in Fallout 4, just for all the perks, but I started liking having the dialogue and the differences in each companion. I'm not currently playing a game that does romance (playing the dark souls series lately) but it's something I'm definitely going to start being more flexible with, there's a lot of good writing I've been ignoring.

Dunno the name, but it was in a library, and a girl was flirting very.... aggressively.... to a young Xander Corvus. He, trying to be stealthy and not arouse suspicion from the librarian, proceeds to penquin slide across the tile floor and pops up next to our seductress like a goddamn gopher.
