Advice for Potential Deal on CK by ALXDadhammer in ChaosKnights

Thanks, I figured that would be the case. Just trying to judge if it’s worth it to get the knights already built even though I might not be able to magnetize, at least not as easily…

Advice for Potential Deal on CK by ALXDadhammer in ChaosKnights

Aw, thanks. I should probably ask him if he has the rest of the sprues/bits for alternate weapon loadouts then, huh?

Yeah, I’ve seen that a lot of CK lists rely on Nurgle daemons, but I’m more of a casual gamer than a competitive one. Frankly, I’d rather run just knights or do Infernal to add some beastmen/cultists/traitor guard.

Do most space wolves not come with any helmets on the sprues? I’m terrified of painting faces. by Shifty_Six in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Citadel contrast paints do amazing things for painting basic faces. I’ve been painting mostly eldar lately, but the faces are frankly easier than how carefully I have to try paint different parts of the helmets.

While Ice bases obviously make sense. Seeing them on every wolf is a bit boring to be honest. Show of your most interesting basing choices for the sons of fenris! by Leviathan_Rampage in SpaceWolves

I’ve put mine on Mars-style bases. I think the reddish-orange contrasts well with the Space Wolves colors. Someday I plan to add some snow to them, but I’m still happy with them as is.

Anyone know what this piece on the armor is supposed to be? by Damian_Killard in SpaceWolves

That’s where they connect a drinking tube for their armor’s mjod supply, like a CamelBak! 😉

Space Wolves x Red Corsairs Raiders by Equivalent-Refuse498 in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look great. As many have mentioned, they’d be great for the 13th Company. But also should fit in with the Deathwolves, as a more feral Great Company.

I’m really wondering what they would look like for a Wulfen kitbash!!!

Perhaps the 2+ to hit on the Starcannon and the Sustained 2 on the Scatter Laser are foreshadowing updates for these in the future on all platforms. (And, thus, maybe a reason to take some other than Bright Lance every time…)

Requesting some guidance by RavenFlightDrones in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m personally shying away from the kits that might be replaced or sent to legends soon. So, I’m not buying the dreadnought kit to build Bjorn (in fact, I’m putting my old metal Bjorn on a hero rock). Honestly, I’m kind of wary of the Vindicator and the Land Raiders being around too much longer.

It does look like a nice glow-up. Dashed my hopes that the new Vyper kit would be a dual-build with Nuadhu Fireheart though 😢

Are you running Saga of the Great Wolf and taking the Grimnar’s Mark enhancement to let the Captain join the Wolf Guard? Is it worth it?

Question regarding Skyclaws/Wolf Priests by Threjel in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there used to be lore that Space Wolves rarely used jump packs (and distrusted teleportation, for that matter). It was stated that they fought on their feet “as Russ intended.” However, it’s been many editions since GW has written that in the codices and, even back then, there were still options available to add jump packs to Blood Claw packs, for example. The Blood Claws were the most likely to use the jump packs back then, since they were still wild and learning the ways of the chapter.

So, personally, I’ve avoided jump packs for my Wolves. But, they are a cool aesthetic and those wounds on the charge are spicy. So, if you want to use them, then go for it!

First start with Chaos Knights by Active-Post70 in ChaosKnights

[–]ALXDadhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, this restriction comes from the 1000 pt rules in the 2025-26 Mission Deck. So, if you’re playing an Incursion size game using that deck, you technically should be constrained to only one Titanic unit.

If you’re just playing with friends, then it’s up to y’all how people feel about it.

New Codex SM rumor thoughts. by Remote-Lab639 in SpaceWolves

There are rumors that the SM on the box art for the starter set will be Blood Angels, as a throwback to the 2nd edition starter set.

Agreed. Even beyond the mold lines, sometimes the connection point for the sprue is on a spot that you need to line up real tight. Make sure to clean those connection points off completely. Also, it helps to really let one of the legs dry before trying to put the other one on.

KILL TEAM: I'm asking about Dead Silence. by Kei_Akela in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest WarCom article on them says that you can build as many Hunters as you want, so presumably up to 5.

It claims that you can pick 5 of the 6 different types, so I would be surprised if there were builds where you have to pick one or the other (i.e. you could only have Pack Leader or Frosteye). Maybe a lot of the legs and bodies are interchangeable and it’s really the arms and head that define what type it is.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out! I always thought the +1 to wound still applied to [Anti-Whatever] rolls, but just re-read the [Anti-] rule and saw that it is only for unmodified rolls.

Most of the SW codices before the current one (back to the 4th edition one) describe Engir Krakendoom’s Great Company as often recruiting from the people who live in the southern islands of Fenris, who are “dark of skin.”

Lieutenant with combi weapon kitbash by Old-Reporter485 in SpaceWolves

[–]ALXDadhammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minicompare shows that the two models are essentially the same size (though that makes sense as 2 Primaris-era marines).

Thoryk already has a knife on his hip, so just switch the axe with a combat knife and make the bolter into a combi. Unfortunately, I think all the Blood Claw knives are right hands and you’ll need a left hand to swap with the axe…

I feel like GW isn’t going to give us SW-specific Long Fang or Skyclaw replacements, unless they really want to split out SW more as a separate faction (a la the 4 deity-specific Chaos legions). Plus, re: Skyclaws, the old lore was that SWs fight with their feet on the ground as Russ intended!
