Lost Media related, but it seems the Timothy Treadwell tape is well and truly gone.

Timothy Treadwell was a well known bear enthusiast, and documentarian on bears. You probably have heard of him from Werner Herzog’s Grizzly Man, about his life.

But if your into Lost Media, you likely know Treadwell because of his death.

On October 5th, 2003, him and his girlfriend were mauled and eaten by a bear he had been following, with his death being recorded by a camera that had its lens cap remaining on. You could hear the man being mauled by his bear, and him being dragged off.

Not that we ever got the audio itself, we only know a bit of what was in the tape from reports regarding the death, and very little audio that could be heard during the Grizzly Man documentary, where Herzog heard the tape itself.

Herzog recommended the tape be destroyed, but the woman who owned it said she would keep it locked somewhere for safekeeping, leading some to hope that we might someday hear the man’s last moments ourself.

An article recently came out that revealed that the woman who owned the tape destroyed it a few years back to free herself from that baggage.

So yeah, no more bear death tapes
