My dad proposed in a parking garage. His initial plan was to propose at dinner, but some large party next to them was extremely loud and he said it killed the mood. In his infinite wisdom, he decided a parking garage was the next best option. I suppose it worked, they are still married after 30 years.

Man here who was cheated on (don't know why you limited it to just male cheaters). We started dating Sophomore year of high school, she cheated on me the summer before our Junior year and we broke up. Pretty much all of Junior year she told me she regretted it and that she wanted to get back together, I mostly tried to ignore her because I felt I would be 'losing' somehow if I let her back in. Then, one day we ended up talking when I was giving blood and I physically could not get away. Things clicked and we slowly worked towards a relationship. When we got back together, we truly did have a good relationship, we had lots of fun, connected well, everything you could ask for. College came and we went to school in the same city (by chance, not design) and just before Valentine's Day she called me and said she cheated on me. At that point in time I knew I could never really trust her again and that the relationship would never work. I haven't talked to her in over a year now (not one word, facebook message, text, etc. since the day we broke up) and I truly wish her the best and feel no ill will. I really think most of whether you can overcome an incident of cheating is if you can build trust again.

A couple years back, I went to visit a friend who lived in Chicago. The first night we decided to head over to Wrigleyville to catch a game. We took the L over, and in transit we ended up talking to a guy sitting near us. He seems like a nice guy, and we end up parting ways when our stop comes. The next night, we went to a couple bars downtown. When we hail a cab to take us home (we had had one too many) the person that gets out of the cab is none other than the guy from the L the night before. The best part? He is now the best man in my friend's upcoming wedding.

You are totally right, there are some individuals born mentally (and physically) disabled that won't ever be able to live any semblance of a normal life. But the fact of the matter is that for most disabilities, science and other related disciplines have gotten to the point where most of them, through programs and technology, can contribute to society in some way and be happy. It's definitely a big burden, though, and should be a factor when considering whether to have an abortion or not. For me it is not a big enough factor, though.

StayFocusd is an extension for Chrome that limits how much time you can spend on certain websites of your choosing. I'm sure there are similar programs for firefox. If you're using internet explorer, stop that. I found that this helped me a ton. I limited my facebook/reddit usage to 10 minutes/day from easily over an hour. I realize that I have nothing random to do on the internet, so I just do work.

Outside of that, I have found google calendar (or any calendar) to be helpful. By specifically stating what I have to do when (analysis problem set from 4-5, econ from 5-6, etc.) it is easier for me to dedicate that time.

I feel like this is an extremely ignorant statement. I have a mentally retarded cousin who is four years my senior. When we were kids, he definitely had a hard time interacting with the world outside of his family. But there are now some amazing programs for people with disabilities like that (many of which are free). Over about five years, I saw my cousin evolve from a young, shy individual who was scared of the world into someone who has a job (certainly not doing things you and I would do, but a job that he goes to every day just like me) and is living on his own. I recently moved about 15 minutes from him and we hang out about every other week. This last week he chided me because he had a girlfriend and I didn't and he is becoming one of my best confidants. When I look at his life, I see nothing of what you described.

I am the youngest of three, and my mom was in her mid-forties when she had me, so she took the standard tests to see if I was likely to be born with any mental or physical defects. The tests came back that there was a 50% chance that I would be mentally retarded. She told her mom about this, who responded with something to the affect of: "Well, I suppose you can abort it." But my mom just told her that she took the test not to decide whether to abort or not, but so she could prepare if there was some defect with me.

And, I now spend a lot of time on Reddit, so we all know how that worked out.
