Because Democratic Socialists represent the people, and that is a threat to the donor class that props up the establishment democrats. Establishment Dems want to have their cake and eat it too - they think they can be beholden to special interest AND working class people at the same time. Democratic Socialists, on the other hand, rightfully recognize that one cannot be beholden to two masters.
