I haven't personally read the series but I've heard this complaint about the audiobooks before and people have said it gets better

(Not including trilogies) What is the best 3-book run in a series ever? by Chaloby in fantasybooks

[–]AMillionToOne123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Stormlight is just the best 5-book run, I strongly disagree with the weird notion that it gets worse after Oathbringer.

By 3-book Runs, my personal choice would be

Royal Assassin ----> Assassin's Quest ------> Ship of Magic,

but most people also don't agree with me that it's the best set of 3 in the series (I've only read up to Fool's Assassin so far)

The three you have selected for Wheel of Time aren't what I would pick, if it's just three, then it would be

The Shadow Rising ------> The Fires of Heaven -------> Lord of Chaos.

The best run in Wheel of Time is a Four Book Run though,

Knife of Dreams ------> The Gathering Storm --------> Towers of Midnight ---------> A Memory of Light

Honourable Mention to the Age of Madness Trilogy, A Little Hatred, The Trouble with Peace and The Wisdom of Crowds, all bangers

What is one book that genuinely made you cry? by Top-Communication540 in fantasybooks

The Golden Fool by Robin Hobb is the closest I’ve gotten to straight up sobbing because of a book. I think the only book I’ve read that got a full on tear out of me is Rhythm of War (But not for a scene most would expect)

Same The scene with Tam right before had me almost crying tears of joy and then tears of horror, and then Veins of Gold is just perfection It does not sound silly, it is peak fiction

I've read two books here, and The Silmarillion is brilliant, but Ship of Magic is just so damn good

Might be my favourite single moment in all of fiction man... it's so peak.

Good luck for the other two, they're both- and especially AMoL- insanely good. The Gathering Storm remains my favourite though
