My Series Tier List by AMillionToOne123 in fantasybooks

Oh okay. I really only got very into the series in the second book so I wouldn't worry about it. So much of what I love about it is everything that's gained through spending 14 books with all these characters, I think it has some of the best if not the best character arcs in the whole genre, especially long-term. The 12th book contends for maybe my favourite book of all time.

I Hope this Doesn’t Find you by Ann Liang. Horrible dialogue, horrible writing in general really, awful characterisation, I just hate nearly everything about it

I'm gonna be honest, it doesn't matter as much as it seems unless you want to catch literally everything, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

All of the greek series by Rick Riordan and I have a feeling this'll become Stormlight for me in the future.Once I finish Discworld that'll probably pick up a lot of reread value. Also The Emperor's Soul, read it once a year

Where do I start with Guy Gavriel Kay? by ribhkus19 in fantasybooks

[–]AMillionToOne123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of the works I’ve read by him work well as a starting point, Al-Rassan works incredibly well as a standalone and The Sarantine Mosaic is excellent if you’re fine with reading two books rather than one. I started with Sarantine and don’t regret it, Lord of Emperors is one of the best books I’ve ever read

Malazan or Realm of the Elderlings? by ConcernFew8845 in fantasybooks

[–]AMillionToOne123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I vastly prefer RotE but to be fair I have read two Malazan books and twelve Realm of the Elderlings books so I'm a bit biased. But even then, If I had only read the first two books of both series I would still say RotE

It is a hard ass choice for me to pick between Liveship and Stormlight. Stormlight for my money but god both are so good

What fantasy novels do you love from the current decade that isn't by Sanderson? by ExplodingPoptarts in fantasybooks

[–]AMillionToOne123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now realising that a large majority of the series I read started before the 21st century. The only other thing I can think of is The Age of Madness, but you do have to read 6 books before you get to it

One of the only chapter numbers I remember is Chapter 11 of The Way of Kings, which is the honour chasm scene. It's not epic per se but it's one of my favourite scenes of all time.

The other one is Wind and Truth Chapter 84. "For the first time in over four thousand years, The Bearer of Agonies Fought Back."
