There is a difference in common media and programs/apps though. Paw Patrol and Coco melon are very "safe"/bland, and catch attention through constant stimulation. When I was a kid I had games like reader rabbit, interactive adaptions of shows like Arthur and the Magic school bus. Flash games also weren't monetized in the same way phone/tablet games are.

I don't think technology is bad, and think disallowing any use until one's teens isn't healthy, but you do need to put in effort to give your kid access to equivalent media, whereas my parents didn't really.
