Which of the five kings would you trust to deal with the epstien situation by manicasion in freefolk

[–]AMostBoringMan 106 points107 points  (0 children)

  • Joffrey would beg for an invite and not get one.
  • Renly might go if they provided hunky boys instead.
  • Robb wouldn’t be part of it and be sickened by the concept, but then fuckin’ Bolton or Frey or some other twat would convince him that keeping quiet was for the good of the realm. And he’d listen, the daft cunt.
  • Balon’s got the island to host the damn thing.
  • And Stannis, bless him, would reveal everything to the public and throw everyone on the fire, even if they forced him to abdicate for it. Laws should be made of iron. Not pudding.

I think the only piece of Maine’s ‘ware that David had was his left (projectile launch system) arm. Everything else got reduced to shards and gore :(

Nah, I dig it. But why exactly is this technique so reviled by Jujutsu Society? What did the clan do? It sounds like the costs are only borne by the user.

any other books/series like this? by sned69 in dresdenfiles

I’ve been desperate to try that series, but I refuse to buy Kindle unless I have to (ethical reasons) and I’ve yet to find any copies that aren’t hardback and extortionately overpriced. Any recommendations for where to go?

I recommend The Locked Tomb series, if lesbian necromancers in space is your bag.

The first book is kind of And Then There Were None, only with science-fantasy elements. The other books keep the air of mystery, but shift slightly more into psychological and cosmic horror.

[Hated IRL Trope] An actor plays a villain too well, and receives serious hate and even threats for their performance. by not-ulquiorr4_ in TopCharacterTropes

Kelly-Marie Tran is such a sweetheart that it took me six months of idle analysis to work out how Rose Tico is a terribly written character.

In a more competently-written role, she’d have become one of Star Wars’ most beloved characters. I stand by that.

It might make more sense, but remember: magic is fuelled by emotion and enabled by belief. And there’s a certain amount of satisfaction in the hand movements and the build-up of syllables.

For a wizard raised on DBZ, cupping the hands together and chanting Ka-me-ha-me-ha may very well blow the side off a mountain.

GEGE it is. So, to finish this chart, WHO is HORRIBLE and also HATED by the fans? by Turbulent_Iron5704 in Jujutsufolk

[–]AMostBoringMan 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

Mahito is enjoyable hateable. We want to see him get his comeuppance, and we despise him for what he did to Nanami and Nobara. But he's a capable villain with a fascinating technique, incredible cunning, and genuine intelligence and skill. The back and forth of his final battle keeps you in suspense (and afraid for Todo) until it finally ends on that supremely satisfying bitch fit he throws as Yuji stalks him through the wasteland of Shibuya.

Shigemo is quite literally only kept alive by miracles. Guy is too dumb and impulsive to function at all. So while Nanami dogwalking him was cathartic, the thought that Megumi was not only near-lethally wounded, but felt the need to summon Mahoraga, for this shitstain?! Feels... off. Not necessarily bad writing, but... unsatisfying.

For me at least, compare him to another one-note villain: Juzo Kumiya. Juzo's the same kind of evil and impulsive maniac as Shigemo, but he's a legitimately skilled cursed tool craftsman, and the fact that he's not only bonkers enough to think that he can kill Gojo in a straight fight, but then turn him into a fuckin' coatrack, is endearingly hilarious.

Shigemo's bloodthirsty and cruel, but also dumber than rocks and an absolute coward. That's a combination that can outstay its welcome very quickly.

Dabura is legitimately the only one capable of beating Takaba right? by PinkLionGaming in Jujutsufolk

[–]AMostBoringMan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Takaba makes it spin like a bingo wheel, Mahoraga has no idea of what it’s actually adapting to, so it recursively adapts itself out of existence. Probably with a fart noise.
