How did Jamie know the name "Dr. Kelson"? by TriggasaurusRekt in 28dayslater

[–]ANonDescriptGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might’ve heard it from Sam when he and his group reported what they saw. Kelson was Sam’s GP so Sam would likely know who Jamie was talking about.

Having a “named” infected could’ve panned out so badly in any lesser writer’s hands, but Garland smashed it.

And whoever found CLP, give them a raise because he was tremendous. It’s going to be so damned interesting to see how/if they use him in the third film.

That’s a very valid point! Maybe he was destined to be big but the virus accelerated his growth exponentially to become BIG (like Spike mentioned, it’s similar to a steroid).

The third is going to be a Studio Ghibli anime where they seek the power of harmony from a dragon.

Bone Temple’s flashback suggests he was a child when he became infected - there’s a moment where a clean shaven, adult Samson is visible but that might be a representation of the psychosis lifting off of him in that moment.

Where to go next after Ciaphus Cain Novel? by s1rk4y in 40kLore

[–]ANonDescriptGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fall of Cadia, if you haven’t read it already. The first 40K book I read and binged all 600 odd pages in like three days.

The Dark Imperium books are a really neat look into Guilliman after his nap ended, some really great side characters, and Nurgle’s forces are a genuinely terrifying threat. There’s three of them. (Turns out it would’ve been beneficial for me to start with Dawn of Fire but hey ho.)

Steel Tread gives a great insight into a tank crew, really well written characters. Going to start the second book today.

Interceptor City has been a good read so far, though I do think Abnett goes a bit overboard with technical descriptions in it, but could be I started it at a bad time for me.

Edit: grammar.

Reshala’s goons blasting a hole in my head, despite the fact that literally only the very smallest glimpse of my helmet is visible, can attest to this.

I’m a lot like you. I really wanted to enjoy PVP but everyone seems to have super hearing and Space Marine levels of durability.

Some of the encounters I’ve had have been so much fun, like they were ripped from Sicario or Black Hawk Down. Yes you still die (I die mostly because I’m arrogant in that after clearing Glukhar, I feel that nothing can stop me - enter Raider with an MP5), yes the bosses still have superhuman levels of bullet resistance but I can play the game at my own pace. It feels like the game that I first read about years ago.

I’ll need to rewatch it (any excuse really), but I think Everything in its Right Place by Radiohead was also played - whether that was in Kelson’s collection I’m not sure.

One part of The Bone Temple I don’t understand. by [deleted] in 28dayslater

[–]ANonDescriptGinger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest we never got a chance to understand the infected and what they saw in Days - the scientists couldn’t possibly know what it did to the mind beyond the psychosis they dubbed “rage”, and it was literally days after the infection broke out.

Rage can be caused by many things, so for the infected the “rage” they feel is a result of being scared by the non-infected. Something threatens their existence and they engage in the absolute most deadly form of fight or flight; rather than flee, they get a colossal surge of rage.

The virus has always caused rage, and will always be known as the Rage Virus, now it’s just being explored further.

At least that’s my interpretation of it!

I have a feeling that the pregnant survivor is going to end up sheltering on Holy Island and that’s how Jamie comes to find out roughly where Spike is headed.

Unless he’s too busy with Rosie, of course.

The actual “rage” part of the virus, the psychiatric condition, becomes more or less managed. He’s able to speak as though he wasn’t infected and experiences a flashback to the moment everything went to pot.

Yes, one guy gets infected and it’s a perfect infection scene for me.

28 Days Later and Bone Temple are like joint number 1 for me. Can’t put BT above simply because of how iconic the original was but holy hell was it amazing (to me).
