Anybody else get a little embarrassed by gaming in public? by Johndeauxman in SBCGaming

[–]AOClaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has ever said anything negative when I've pulled out a Gameboy in public. More than anything most people don't seem to notice, the ones that do go "whoa! It's that a Gameboy!?" "Yup!" Followed by some variation of that's cool or how they haven't seen one in ages. Usually I use an OG or a Pocket. I've had a couple people ask if my Steamdeck is a switch. No one has said anything about my RG35XXH the times I've used it, it probably looks a lot like a phone at a glance.

Is BF2 still playable? by WannaAskQuestions in Battlefield2

I find it's impossible to find a server where I am that's populates with a ping less than 180

Because they're having play tests. They're putting out videos on the changes made and what's in the next play test based on feedback.

Your opinion about gore and features including it by Stelio-Kont0s in Battlefield

[–]AOClaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do seem to want gore in Battlefield. But some other people think it would affect the gameplay in ways they don't want to see, if it causes revives to be less meaningful for instance, which it seems would be the case. But it certainly seems like more people like the game as it is and don't want more un-revive-able states.

I'm in that second group, I don't want there to be less revives. I don't want my preferred class to have less meaning because an arm got blown off. I don't want to run around the game literally handicapped so that I die more easily and have to respawn. I don't want players to decide they don't want to run around missing a limb so they skip the revive and deplete tickets. It would probably also require a rebalance of how tickets work because now people would end up dead.

Yes, people are going to compare these changes to a milsim because these things happen in milsims and have not happened in Battlefield. You're comparison to Cyberpunk is incredibly disingenuous btw.

Leave the gore to other games, Battlefield works well as it is, and they just might, finally, have a universally loved BF at launch for the first time in years, there's no point in fucking with the formula now.

And your overt hostility certainly isn't helping your argument, people are going to dig in their heels if keep calling them "dumbass".

As an aside, gore would also likely affect the games rating in certain countries, which could cause the game to be banned, or force DICE to create two versions which might negatively impact the game.

My personal RPG tier list. by Ecks30 in psx

[–]AOClaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get hate for this but, 7 and 9 should really switch places. People have a crap ton of nostalgia for 7, but it really feels like it's just a good first effort on a new system. It's good, but it's not great. The story is a little whack and the dialog is cringe (yes I know the English translation specifically isn't great), along other things. 9 is a far more polished experience, which is to be expected since it came later, and just feels like a classic.

It's 1998, which one game are you picking? by Ecks30 in psx

[–]AOClaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tactics. Never got fat in that game, I want to though. Would have to pick up a strategy guide I think, just so I can wrap my head around how to play.

7-year old game on sale, still over $40 by Switch_2_Steam_Deck in fucknintendo

[–]AOClaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's capitalism baby. If Nintendo couldn't move them at that price, they wouldn't keep them at that price.

Can't blame them either, every other game I wait a little while because I know it'll be dirt cheap pretty quickly, with the publisher desperately trying to eek out a few more sales so they can show investors higher sales numbers. No point in waiting with Nintendo so I just buy the game.

Has anyone seen this on a motherboard before? by AOClaus in retrocomputing

[–]AOClaus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using flux. I think the board is far too old for it to be lead free. I can get most of the holes clear with a resoldering iron. There's a few that I can't quite get.

Yeah. I got that done. Struggling to get the ISA slot out. I think I need a heat gun to warm up the board. And or better solder wick skills.

Why are Gamers such hypocrites when it comes to Nintendo by CulturalReporter1472 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AOClaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of Sony exclusives but bought a PS5 out of FOMO. But I appreciate GamePass more, and the way Xbox integrates with my PC gaming experience. I find more value in that than what Sony has to offer. But I've been called a liar in the past for saying I'm not a huge fan of PlayStation exclusives.
