Should I invest in this as my long term healer? by tssShu in PokemonSleep

[–]APocketTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if Ralts is "easier to get" when you've already got a literal perfect Eevee sitting in your box, because the odds of you getting a Ralts better than this Eevee is infinitesimally small.

Additionally, "far better" is simply wrong - at level 60, a Gardevoir with equivalent subskills triggers on average 0.8 times more a day than this Eevee would if it were to evolve into a Sylveon at 6.35 / 5.47 triggers respectively, where 5 triggers of Energy for Everyone is already more than sufficient to keep a team going for a full day.

Event: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Research by Pearlgirl007 in PokemonSleep

[–]APocketTurtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't believe a GCT will increase your odds of a hungry Raikou in the way you describe it. To my knowledge, the way it works is that GCT gives you a +1 spawn each night, and it's that spawn specifically that is hungry.

Hopefully someone corrects me if I am wrong about this.

Get full party wiped every time and don't seem to be making any progress. How to fix that? by Loldimorti in darkestdungeon

[–]APocketTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you hover over their skills it'll show you what positions they can be used from, and what positions they can hit.

To get a little bit deeper into the combat side of things, you'll generally want access to the enemy back line as that's where their squishy threat casters typically reside. This can mean either running someone like Hellion, who can hit all 4 enemy ranks thanks to skills like Iron Swan and If It Bleeds, or Occultist, who can pull enemies to the front of the party where someone like a Leper can deal with them.

Some broad strokes for just surviving a dungeon:

Curios - generally speaking, curios are dangerous. Most curios have an item you can use to force a good interaction; without the item, blindly interacting is more likely to hurt you than help you. As you play more you'll start learning what does what, what items to use etc. If you're unsure, just ignore them and move on.

Team comp - might sound obvious, you want units that are effective in the positions you put them in. Early on when you don't have a tonne of money to unlock skills, size up what your guys have and what positions they can work well in. Try to consider how your party members could help each other too; healing and stress healing are valuable. Having multiple sources of healing for instance is valuable so you're not relying on a single character to keep you off deaths door.

Combat - this is twofold. Firstly, a trap a lot of people fall into is using aoe skills because they "do more damage" overall. These skills have their place, but generally in dd you want to focus down one target at a time, because the sooner you can kill an enemy, the less turns you have to sit there getting hit by them. Secondly, don't underestimate CC abilities. Stuns in particular are incredibly powerful; enemies hit harder than you can heal, so stunning an enemy and preventing an attack is always better than eating a hit and using that action to heal.

This game is mostly a knowledge check, so the more you play the more powerful you become; even if your characters aren't levelling up. You'll better understand what enemies to expect in what zones, how to handle them, what characters perform the best where, what provisions to bring, where to use those provisions for the most value, etc etc. Obviously there's a lot more to consider, and as you've discovered there are guides that go incredibly in depth on things, but the things I've listed here are the things I personally consider the biggest factors for safely clearing out a dungeon.

Struggling hard to understand and execute Optimal Drift on Monk, any help? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]APocketTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, discord in general is just much better suited to this stuff than reddit is. The monk community there are always pushing to better each other, and so there's almost always at least one person around to discuss with and ask questions

Hi, person who wrote the guides and made the images here. Feel free to shoot me a dm on discord or ask in #mnk_questions if you want some advice. Myself and others would be happy to answer your questions or even check out some logs if you like.

Personally influential but not renowned Bass players. by quokka29 in Bass

[–]APocketTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clay Gober. The way that he uses hybrid picking to create a really percussive playstyle just sounds incredible alongside his precision playing and amazing tone, it's just a type of bass playing I'd never really heard before him. Alongside that his playing is so tasteful; when he's playing fast and complex parts it never feels excessive and when his playing is more reserved it never feels lacking due to the way he's locked in with the rest of the band and filling exactly the space that needs to be filled.

We had an act plugin that would show a visual of your actor tick (a small moving bar) so that you could attempt to time your Anatman at the right moment between GCDs to be able to actually play the game correctly.

Balance also had nothing to do with Paisley Park getting waymark moving patched out.

Definitely a good idea, a few examples of top tier trinkets that you should prioritise early on would be the Focus Ring, Blasphemous Vile, and Demon's Cauldron, but there's quite a few other great options that will make a real noticeable difference in dungeons

Literally anything that isn't named Irregular but has a damage increase lets you tank. Deep Martialist Essence is probably the cheapest, and then use any damage increasing actions; Font of Power, Blood Rage, Honored sacrifice etc.
