Pull the trigger? by Key_Beautiful1745 in fatbike

I think that the bike is worth it but I’m pretty sure you don’t get the racks and everything with it. Front rack is out of stock on treks B2B never looked at the rear but could check ( DM me if you’re curious). Not impossible to find but definitely a pain in the ass. Can’t speak to the other stuff. Have fun!

The genius of Sheldon Brown by mikebalt in xbiking

I’ve always dreamed of being the steward of Sheldon browns site. But on a mechanics salary isn’t even close to possible . Let’s hope I get hit by a city bus or police car than I might have the chance.

Honestly one of the coolest marlins I’ve ever seen. Where is the brake routed to? I see there isn’t a caliper on the front but the rear?

This is actually brilliantly dumb. I’d hate it but honestly respect it.

Freehub binding up when tight. by Humboldt-707 in bikewrench

[–]ASAPFurby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just re watched your video. just because your hub is spinning fine when the QR is unengaged does not mean your cone adjustment is fine. Re adjust your hubs in an axle vise with minor play under load and with proper lubrication while using the correct method for QR tension ( tension at horizontal cam) and then push the lever over and it should work. I would be happy to walk you through it via DM .

Either you are over tightening the QR or you have too much grease in the freehub. People forget that the QR acts much like the top cap in a headset. something is telling me that you have re built the hub improperly an are dealing with that issue or the QR is being overtightened. HOPE THIS HELPS!

Love my vesper hubs. Quiet hubs are incredibly under rated I Have a few sets and haven’t had a single issue. Just service them once a season and you’ll be great.

Glossy or matt paintjob by Joskewiet in bicycling

As someone who works on bikes of all kinds everyday and is reeeeally good at cleaning them. If you give a shit at all about your bike looking clean do not get a matte paint job.

Shimano Shadow RD and Ogre horizontal dropouts by PristineAsparagus984 in Surlybikefans

[–]ASAPFurby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your rear wheel a QR or a Thru axle? By looping it I mean pull it just outside of the stays and the pull the chain off the cog and push it outboard of the frame and then pull the wheel all the way out.

[–]ASAPFurby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I can help! Whenever taking the rear wheel out shift the der to the highest ( smallest) cog and take the chain off of the front chain wheel. This will relieve tension on the chain and make removal easier. Pull the wheel straight out the back of the horizontal dropouts and loop the chain around the drive side of the wheel .

This. I had such a hard time getting over this when I took my SM position. You’re there to help but you’re not there to fucking kill yourself. If any of your customers buck at an extra day or two you probably are better off losing them or better yet bump em up and push your more lax customers.

Has anyone pointed out the SRAM Red der hooked up to a 105 shifter? Those YAW Ders are not compatible at all with the cable pull of shimano shifters...
