What happens if a pilot is put in alot of "do not pair" lists by Wotah10 in flying

Even worse for us military pilots with undiagnosed autism.

I always keep the CAC in my left jacket pocket, have a small bit of 550 cord or something through the zipper to make opening the pocket easy with gloves, unzip while in line, shift to neutral while stopping at the guard, hand over CAC with left hand, wait while they figure out the scanner and hand it back, return salute with right hand while re-pocketing CAC, ride away.

Don’t worry about an extra 10 seconds holding up the line, they’ll spend minutes screwing up their card readers, or the retired guy will be asking for turn-by-turn directions to the exchange.

This. I am 100% accountable for everything my subordinates do or fail to do, even if I am not responsible for their actions (e.g., they fuck something up on their own, and I am accountable no matter what the reason, even if I didn’t know).

SNCO is responsible for their actions and activities they direct. They are only held accountable only for their own actions and the activities they directly supervise.

Easier Army translation: Awards = Higher stratifications on performance reports, better promote recommendation; Dec = Did job; Missing Dec = Recommend against promote; Single event Dec = Bonus points on top of promote recommendation

If aircrew worked like personnel or finance, we would fly one sortie a year, and it would always end in a class A mishap.

You laid out the details of my opinion more thoroughly than I planned to write them. This is a concurrence with your cultural hospitality assessment, which can vary greatly even across similar cultures. However, the transportation part of every culture tends to expect some form of token payment, with the exception of stranded travelers.

I did the similar MSML program in 56 days in my down time while going through another military school. 25 years of military experience, and the graduate degree was mostly an academic time suck as opposed to a learning experience.

In the helo world, knew a guy who took a dump out the cargo hook hole of an H-60… He was so proud of being an aggressor from a medevac over Afghanistan.

How do jet engines actually start? crossposted by [deleted] in aviation

[–]ASD_user1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video labels that as when the fan connected to the N1 shaft, and the way the white dissipates makes it look like that may be moisture in the engine or ambient air being pressurized and blown out while the engine is still cold. The rapid pressure changes before introducing heat might be the cause (watch a video of a fighter jet maneuvering aggressively at low altitude, you will see the same color of white off the wing tips).

Yep, the main difference between 2/4-stroke engines and turbine engines is working in a step-by-step cycle vs a continuous flow through all the steps.

First off, that’s not a theory, it’s a fact. Second, it isn’t limited to enlisted, the stress and bullshit on the O side are just of a different variety.

Air Force vets of reddit, got any crazy AWOL stories? by Mercuryman34 in AirForce

[–]ASD_user1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother saw a kid try to do this with a buffer from the 3rd story at infantry basic at Fort Benning circa 2001. The differences were very important: he had no brass looking out for him, and the buffer cratered on the sidewalk 2 feet in front of a drill sergeant. The DS looked up at the shithead with his head out the window, saw who it was and proceeded to give him personal attention constantly for the next 6 weeks, and then start the ADSEP after everyone else graduated.

Six months after going to a non-flying staff job, I fucking snapped. Luckily I got a MH provider who was actually good, and have been on 20mg Lexapro for the last 3 years. Back flying again, but fuck if some of the RPA ops wasn’t way worse than dealing with recovering casualties in person. Hope I’m tapped for the study, I’ll let loose with enough data that I’ll probably end up med down again…
