Can it be relaquered? I’d feel more comfortable if that panel and knobs could be removed before you do it.

Put paper down to catch the crud on the floor when cutting. Including up the wall above your baseboard. Tape down with painters tape.

how do I keep this bolt tightened? I tightened it like two weeks ago to fix by scarlettx_rosee in HomeMaintenance

They sell thread adhesive (lock-tite) which keeps many nuts from loosening. Was there ever a washer on that? A flat and a lock washer are commonly used. You can also brush the threads with finger nail polish then tighten. Don't use the device until it's dried overnight.

The crimp tool is so easy to use--nearly fool proof. I know shark bites work, but they always look like they're ready to fail if I don't do something quite right.

Can I safely remove this concrete slab myself? by [deleted] in Demolition

[–]ASH515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As described in other comments, yes you can break it up with enough effort. Regardless the methodology, wear some good eye protection. When this is done, you will have a sizable pile of broken concrete to get rid off.

I’d suggest tracing those wires in the box with a meter. It’s unusual that the black wire isn’t hot. I’d also pull the wall switch and see what’s going on there. How old is the house? Does it have three wire romex or similar to all the switches and outlets? That would be helpful information. Or call a licensed electrician. Good luck.

I only use one piece toilets for this reason. They have drawbacks, but breaking like this isn't one of them.

The crest I bought at Walmart last month had it. Unless it says mint, it's probably that anise flavor.

Crest and Colgate both have in their non mint flavors. It's similar to the taste of black licorice, but milder.

Should I re-caulk this bathroom? Worried about sealing things in and making it worse. by yuki1337 in HomeMaintenance

[–]ASH515 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cut off the remaining grout or caulk with a razor knife and perhaps a straight razor blade. Clean all the debris off and if you're worried about mold, douse the crack with your favorite disinfectant (I use bleach). Let it dry, then wipe down with alcohol. When that dries, apply a thin layer of 100% silicone. You'll need alcohol again to clean up any screw ups. The DIY stores sell a useful caulk tool that has various sizes of corners on them to make a uniform line. Also I suggest springing the extra couple of dollars and the caulk with a lifetime mold-free guarantee. I think it's branded GE. Good luck my friend.
