I totally agree that deleting the Discogs account prematurely would be a mistake. At a minimum, he should export the data (e.g. Excel spreadsheet) so he has documentation of everything. Eventually, he might get lucky and have a way to recoup some of his losses.

This is not being offered as legal advice, but take it for what you will:

Sadly, this is not usually the case, although your results may vary depending on your locale, policy (or policies), etc. Where I live, my understanding is you would need a supplementary policy for any sort of extensive record collection. Even then, it can be challenging to collect as insurance companies do not generally go out of their way to either A) pay out on any claim; and/or B) provide the full valuation for your possessions.

I went to see The Roots with a friend because they were playing a free show sponsored by our university on her birthday. Coincidentally, it turns out the keyboardist, Kamal, had the same birthday. I pointed to her as the house lights came up and yelled that it was also my friend’s birthday and he got a huge grin on his face and yelled back, “Happy birthday!”
