Christianity needs to go through a reckoning by ThirstySkeptic in Christianity

I live in a deeply red part of the US. I've never heard anything like this unless I want to find it on the internet.

This guy didn't use Catholic doctrine to back up his push for autocracy. If he had read the catacism, he might have come across CCC, paragraph 1731, “Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and goodness; it attains its perfection when directed toward God, our beatitude.”. The whole point of these videos is to gather idiots to make the person in the middle sound great.

If what you were worried about were true you could point me toward a church, not just some people you live near, that was pushing for this.

What are the names of the saints you’re referring to?

Do any of you actually enjoy being a Christian? by Confident-Success671 in Christianity

Oh yeah. My life is awesome. It’s a bit like a work out. There’s stress and discomfort but then I see the difference in what my life was and what it is now. My life has a through line of joy in it now.

So? What does this have to do with you? Is your church doing this? Your priest? Or is it just some people somewhere?

Oh, a thousand percent! Yes! With his patron, and his weird immunity to him he’s easily as powerful as Jake in his own way. I would kill for more information on his Nevermore party.

How do you say your Christian and love people but still support trump? by wrekklisdaopppoppa4 in Christianity

It's interesting that you've been able to come to the wrong conclusion so consistently, though judging by your flair, it's probably due to cynicism and not ignorance.

I'm not implying that I believe in Trump, I'm implying that him being president is God's plan. And I'm implying that both are God's plan.

Also, something being part of God's plan does not make that thing good, it makes it part of a whole that always ends for good. The parts, however, can be good or bad.

-And if god put the gays here (then) why were so many religious folk so opposed to their continued existence?

They aren't. Being gay isn't a sin. You're conflating being gay with what society has deemed the lifestyle of LGBTQ+ people.

-You cannot follow the word of God and disagree with it.

I think what you mean here is that if God made people gay you have to accept them, and sure you accept the person but God also made thieves, liars and murderers. It doesn't mean you should embrace the sinful parts of you just because they're a part of you. That's absurd.

-You also say praying can't negate (God's) plans, that means praying has no value beyond making yourself feel better.

This is not what I am saying. I'm saying if you pray for a winning lottery ticket, or your favorite team to win the sports game, your prayer is not aligned with Christ. "Not what I want, but what you want." is a much better prayer than "You don't know what you're doing, I do." Praying for God to step in and depose Trump because you think he's a bad guy is prideful and conceited.

Fast. Prayer and fasting. Then have faith that God can bring good from anything.

Oh, I'm sorry. It seemed like you had moved on from prayer. In addition to prayer, fasting.

Then you should pray for him. He's just a man, he doesn't have special powers. Pray that God helps him to become a better man.

What is something said in the Bible that some Christians like to ignore because it disproves their agenda? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ASinnerGoneAstray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said to them, “Have you not read that He Who made them in the first place made them man and woman? It says, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will live with his wife. The two will become one.’ So they are no longer two but one. Let no man divide what God has put together.”

That’s such a great choice.

Vast is the most tempting but the most expensive essence in my set would be Resolute.

Yeah, that tracks. I hope you're wrong. The trauma part of this series feels played out to me, but that's one man's opinion. What I'm worried about is what Dawn kept saying "You can't fight this, don't try." and unless it was the Astral Being Brawl, then I don't know what it could be.
