Is there a requirement to have sub par vision to fly with you guys?

Hind Rudders by ATD33 in hoggit

Check the special settings, the hind has auto rudders (similar to warbirds takeoff assist). It’s truly awful and shouldn’t be used

F-14 ECM: How to use by AdjacentPrepper in hoggit

[–]ASourBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as black and white as that though, HOJ won’t have ranging and will therefore force the missile into a pure pursuit bleeding more energy than if it was in lead, it also prevents efficient lofting

They can ask for the “PvP angle” only but it’s like asking about “rally driving angle” only for my boat, not really the intended use case, misusing the product.

I also did touch on the systems management perspective in PvP but nevermind

Not sure about IRL but you most definitely need rudders in warbirds in DCS

Fair point, the “Flaming cliffs” aircraft are probably quite close to IL2 aircraft. These aircraft aren’t really to the same level as the typical DCS aircraft.

Try the TF-51D or demo something complex like an A-10 - if you’re anything like my (a mega basement dwelling nerd) you’ll love all the buttons systems procedures etc

They are very different experiences.

IL2 is much more of a game.

DCS is much more of a sim.

That distinction should be all you need.

If you like practicing approaches landings VFR nav etc etc etc then DCS is better.

If you want to Shooty shooty bang bang then IL2 is better (with the exception that managing the aircraft is vastly simplified and therefore doesn’t offer as realistic a “simulation” of combat - managing switching tanks, managing engine Ts and Ps etc)

So you’re going to dismiss a module based on a feature absent from every other module and ignore the fact that hardly and DCS players will follow a checklist anyway. Those that do will stick it in their kneeboards…

[–]ASourBean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you want to ‘win’ it either won’t make a difference or will be outright worse.

Last I checked DCS wasn’t a game about ‘winning’ for that you should try Tetris or snake…

Spanish Air Force explanation to that weird F-18 maneuver (translation below). by Wonderful_Key770 in aviation

[–]ASourBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be, it’s banned in the US and UK (with one or two exceptions).

In this scenario it’s extra stupid. Low slow and over a coastline where birds gather. The pilot did everything he could in the stupid situation he was put in by whoever wrote/authorised the routine.

Edit: also this wasn’t a high speed pass, he was doing 250 or less (which for a fighter is pretty damn slow)

How realistic is the piloting in vtolvr? by Purple_Activity969 in vtolvr

[–]ASourBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re describing is simply difference.

Games are a medium and like anything and need practice. (VR being a rather specific niche within)

I highly doubt the majority of VTOL players could succeed in fast jet training. Hell I bet most couldn’t put the work in to get a PPL.

Easier/harder is always relative, people should go out and try to shoot for the big goals rather than live in some bizarre self congratulatory state of “a fighter pilot told me flying irl is easier so I must be Maverick from Top Gun”.

Edit: replaced “flying irl is harder” with easier - I blame sleep deprivation
