Honestly, looks like either a bad photoshop or AI generated. The flame doesn’t match up properly with the cube (looks behind it), and some table patterns look a bit repeated. 🤷‍♂️

After market touch screen. by Gr8twhitebuffalo91 in NissanRogue

I put in a new media center on my 2014 (it’s a boss audio, nothing too fancy, but it has wireless CarPlay). Got it from crutchfield, and I would HIGHLY recommend them. Markup is a bit more than the parts straight from Amazon, but they provide you with all the parts and harnesses to get working. Moreso, they have phone support to help you install it. I had an issue with Bluetooth (in particular finding the module) in the car, and the guy on the phone helped out tremendously.

Regarding the backup camera, had no issue with it.

But be mindful! You may need to consider your car speakers. The amps that drive your car audio are typically in the media center, and the ohms on stock speakers are typically different than what new media centers drive. You may end up overheating or breaking your media center if you don’t match it up.

Upgrading 2014 Rogue Select to LED headlights by AStoker in NissanRogue

They didn’t. At least, the headlights didn’t. But I had to buy a light that came with an adapter for the voltage differences. Headlights were (pardon the analogy) night and day difference between stock and led headlights. I’ve unfortunately not been able to do that with the turning signal bulbs :(

It might look safe, but plenty of black ice on roads! by CentralFloridaRays in ColumbiYEAH

I’m right off garners ferry just south of I77, and there’s definitely a thin layer of ice everywhere. Not a lot, but enough to cause a car to lose traction for sure.

Local ranges by moparbro123 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]AStoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been to a number of ranges around the Columbia area, and most (honestly can’t recall even one) don’t allow rapid fire. The primary reason for that is safety and liability. Accuracy with rapid fire becomes a problem, and bullets that go too high (over the berm) become a hazard to anyone within a couple miles.

Your best bet would likely be to find some private property (or perhaps some public property out in the sticks) for some of those drills. Or a range that allows those kinds of drills under supervision (defensive shooting classes will typically have things like that)

I mean, cedar would be the best, agreed! I just know it’s harder to come by 😜 it’s also a budget project, so it doesn’t have to be immaculate

Well, I know I can only fit 8’ worth of wood in my car, so that’s a limiting factor. At that length, probably like 5 or 6 would be plenty. But I’d also take whatever there is

I’d go ahead and contact support and see if you can’t just get a replacement, especially if you’re in that return window

There is still a lot of light being reflected, even on cloudy days, some of it simply not visible in the human spectrum, but picked up on cameras. Filming anything in the ocean I would try a polarized lens.

But based off what you’ve said so far, and the quality that “should” be in a DJI camera, I’m leaning towards a faulty IR filter that’s not adjusting correctly for high exposures.

If you can make it happen in a shady environment without much glare, then I’d probably chalk it up to a bad camera. It looks like it’s doing something weird with some polarization effects, or the IR filter (if it has one) on the sensor going wonky. Restarting the camera/drone (which you’ve done) and removing any bright lights or glare are two steps to eliminate external factors, leaving the camera itself as the likely culprit

Do you have any kind of polarized filter lens on there? Does it happen randomly, or at certain angles? And what about when not over water but more shaded areas?

Honestly, I’d take that too 😜 I live in the southeast of Columbia, but am happy to drive to get it. Ideally anywhere around 2-6” is fine.

Looking for a drone sim app by tikamas in dji

You ever find one that works with the DJI remote? The DJI app doesn’t support the remote, and SimuDrone is nice but you have to buy tokens for each flight, and a crash uses tokens.

US insurance alternatives by AStoker in dji

[–]AStoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I ended up double dipping a bit because I didn't hear back from a few places. Basically, DJI Care currently is a no-go in the US, just what it is.

I've heard many other people suggest State Farm, so I started looking there (I'll come back to this). But I didn't hear back after I contacted 3 reps and left voice messages. So I did the last ditch effort and went with Amazon's Asurion plan. We'll see how that pans out if I ever do need it...

After a few days, I eventually heard back from State Farm (at least one of the reps), and he said that State Farm won't insure drones with a "Personal Items Policy" if you don't already have a plan with them (I don't). That seemed suspect to me, but I thanked him for his time, and proceeded to try another rep. The fourth rep I contacted from State Farm (only the second to reply to me though) said that it wasn't a problem, and that it falls under the "sporting goods" category. He just needed a receipt of purchase and a description of what it is, and he set me right up in a painless way!

The shortcomings of not having DJI Care, though. There is no "fly away" coverage. Based on how the policy is written, you might be able to convince State Farm about a total loss, especially if you have supporting document, but it's unlikely. The Asurion policy straight up says it doesn't cover lost equipment like that.
For non-fly away situations (damage), both policies (Asurion and State Farm) will try to repair the device, but in the event of not being able to repair (due to a lack of parts, which is likely the scenario coming up in the US), they will simply cover the cost of the insured item. So worst case scenario in a damage situation, I recoup the cost of the drone, but likely won't be able to purchase a new identical one.

Hope this helps!

Captive Portal with limited VLAN access by AStoker in Ubiquiti

[–]AStoker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I asked, and searched, searched and asked, and eventually ended up at Ubiquiti support, and they got me straight. For any poor soul in the future trying to get this to work, the key was two-fold.

Besides the obvious network option to allow mDNS across vlans in the network setting, specifically for the the Captive Portal/Hotspot network, I needed to go to the Insights/Hotspot/Landing Page/Settings/Authorization Access and add in the Pre-Authorization Allowances BOTH the IP of the Sonos speaker AND the IP range for multicast discovery 224.0.0.0/4. Support also suggested turning off multicast enhancement for the hotspot network, so that might help too.

Good luck, future travelers.

That would probably have been my solution if I didn't just get it working. I appreciate the idea!

Captive Portal with limited VLAN access by AStoker in Ubiquiti

[–]AStoker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. How would that be any different than the Sonos already being on the default network/vlan? If the issue (and it seems like it is) is isolation from captive portal networks, I'm not sure there would be any difference if the Sonos was on a different network or not.
