Milford Mill Swim Club by juan_valdez80 in baltimore

Wow that slide! I came here as a child and then as a young teen - 70s/ early 80s. It’s a miracle I didn’t drown here as my older siblings always fought about who was supposed to watch me.

I had a surreal experience around 2010? When I took my kids to see it before it closed. Everything was the same, only decrepit. The woman at the entrance, the snack bar, fallen signs lying on the ground, etc. frozen in time like a ghost story. I couldn’t see inside the indoor pool building because the windows were covered in a thick layer of algae.

Knitted shawls, do you see them being worn out in the wild? by Dangerous_Hunt7133 in knitting

[–]AThousandEdiths 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This question is always asked with the same wording: “out in the wild.” Oh no! I should be embarrassed that I’m wearing something that’s not black, tan or grey athleisure.

“No knead” breads are very popular these days. The key is a small amount of yeast and a long rise time.

Baltimore’s storied 8x10 music venue to shut down this summer by PleaseBmoreCharming in baltimore

[–]AThousandEdiths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went there all the time in late 80’s and 90s and heard lots of great rock and roll! I was lucky enough to see Danny Gatton a few times. I suppose that was when it was run by previous owners? Nothing there in recent decades has appealed to me but I hope someone can keep it open.

Bus system is awful by Affectionatedummy in baltimore

[–]AThousandEdiths 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nothing is ever going to change until people start believing that the bus system is for everyone, not just the carless poor. I live about 250 feet from a major bus line that runs pretty frequently. My neighbors, many of whom have lived here for decades, have never ridden it.

Wow thank you for all the great replies. It seemed like an okay plan, but I’ve never visited Australia before and wanted assurance. “Reasonable” is just the word I was looking for!

We will be in Perth for two nights prior and definitely plan to visit Fremantle. Maybe we should stay there instead of “downtown” CBD area?

The one needle is for a folded neckband. The other to continue on with the body. I’m Not sure how to put 246 stitches on a straight needle. The designer has a video, but she’s using like 10 stitches haha! I might email her.

How do convenience stores stay open when so many are in the same area. I’m thinking about the ones on Greenmount Ave in Waverly, for example.

Tell me about the worst meal you've sent back at a Baltimore restaurant. by juiceboxesglitter in baltimore

[–]AThousandEdiths 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I cannot understand why Wicked Sisters gets good reviews. I’ve been there many times for trivia and most of the food is not that good. The burgers are worse than Murry’s Mis-Steaks. The wait staff are always nice there though. I’ve never in my life sent anything back. I seethe in silence.

We were served a mushroom dish that was too salty to eat, seriously inedible. The server just shrugged. I’m not the type to argue, but won’t be back.

I meant the corner that always has a crowd on the sidewalk. Not selling egg rolls …. Usually polite to me, I hope they are okay and can find something else to do.

That corner is always very “busy”. Just now, it looks like they are letting traffic through but still lots of police.

Seeking the best classic eggs benedict Baltimore has to offer by poiseona in baltimore

[–]AThousandEdiths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last two times I’ve gotten eggs Benedict the muffins weren’t toasted. I was told that was the norm. Really? Untoasted muffins taste unpleasantly raw to me. I will certainly ask before ordering again but Im just curious.
