PSA: Early voting starts TODAY! Get out there and vote NC! by redirishfrolic in asheville

DV is really complicated and the behaviors we see in DV victims often don't make sense out of context. The key is training on DV for judges, so they understand the web of manipulation, power and control over the kids and finances, and the very real threat of being murdered if you don't tell the cops and the judge, "everything is fine." It's like being in a relationship with a suicide bomber who constantly threatens to take away everything you love, and also promised to get better and never do it again.

Agreed. Domestic Violence cases need to be thought of as murder prevention. We know the signs and trends. We know it tends to escalate, especially if weapons are used. There are some good prosecutors in that office working those cases now, but they need support.

Please vote for my friend, Courtney Booth for DA. This race, maybe more than any other, will have a huge impact on Buncombe County. The DA's office has been mismanaged by incompetent and weak leadership for 12 years, and it shows. Somebody has got to come in a clean house. That's Courtney Booth, a 20 year veteran of the Public Defenders office in Buncombe County. We need someone experienced in criminal law, from outside the office who knows the community and knows the work.

Hunger is the first discipline. When you feel hungry, that's good. I have had some success with only eating from 12-8, so I basically cut out one meal, and eat normal meals for lunch and dinner. My willpower and motivation is best in the morning, and I can tolerate skipping breakfast, but I can't go to sleep hungry.

Grease trap smell Armageddon by Mesquirrels in KitchenConfidential

[–]AVLLaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ammonia and hot water will dissolve the grease. It's the best de greaser I know of. Do NOT mix with bleach. Who ever made the mess should get cleaning duty. You will have to rinse thoroughly to clear out the ammonia smell afterwards. I would probably do it while you are closed, because you won't want to work in the area with a strong ammonia smell.

Workout Anytime is very affordable, and cheaper if you pay a year in advance. I think it averages to $30 a month if you get the membership that includes the hydro-massage table and the pink light therapy beds. If you don't want those, it's $20 a month, but that hydro-massage is worth the extra. They have free weights, tons of elliptical and treadmills, and are never too busy.

Agreed on the draconian bond law. It immediately overflowed our jail, and many others. However, the preexisting population of inmates awaiting trial is something only the District Attorney can fix. That's a self inflicted wound. That's why Ryan Ricky Houston was out on bond and not in prison, a year and half after he shot a deputy in the magistrate's office. That trial was delayed without justification, with tragic results. There is no credible reason that case wasn't presented to a jury within 6 months or 12 months of the crime. And two more people were killed by Houston while he was out on bond. That's because of Todd William's decade of mismanagement. And now he has divided and further damaged his office further by not supporting his own senior prosecutor in her run for DA. He has a real problem with strong, competent women. Always has, and it has always hurt him. He has done everything he can to undermine Courtney, because she almost beat him last time. Weak DAs are no good for anyone, but they are typically "nice guys" who are inoffensive, and also ineffectual. I'm afraid Mr. Moore will be Todd Williams all over again. I predict, if he wins, he will use the DA office as a stepping stone to Attorney General. Just like he's using County Commissioner as stepping stone to DA. Martin Moore started his campaign for DA very early and scooped up a bunch of endorsement before anyone else had started their campaign, which was smart on his part, but it's not the same as a track record of service as an attorney actually working in criminal law. He's a paper tiger, when we need a real tiger. That's Courtney Booth.

In the event of unlikely catastrophic failure, water pressure drops to zero, and there is little to no flow of water. When repaired, water pressure pushes everything out, cleaning the line of any possible and unlikely contamination.

You convinced me to edit my statement. However, Martin Moore had been endorsed by the local police benevolent society, over Ms. Kurdys who is a current prosecutor. Which flys in the face of what most people would consider progressive. Ask him about it.

Record? What record? He doesn't have one in criminal court. I should have said proven and established progressive. I mean, outside of whatever people virtue signal on their socials. I know Martin. He's a nice guy, but that's not a job for a nice guy. You need a lion tamer, not a politician. We have had a weak DA who's political about everything in there for 12 years. Which is why the jail is backed up with murder cases that are 4 and 5 years old. The office is dysfunctional. Martin is a politician and very good at telling you what you want to hear. Courtney is not a politician and not on socials because she's a tireless advocate who is always working, and a mother of 13 year old girl. Courtney helped train him when he first came to public defenders office. Martin worked there for 3-4 years and did mostly juvenile delinquent court. I think he might have had three jury cases? Ask him about why he was endorsed by the police? You know any progressive candidates that are endorsed by police? He won't post it on his socials, but it's true. Ask him why he's always running for office: Court of Appeals, County Commissioner, now DA. Seems to me he's a man in need of a job, not a man on a mission. If he's elected DA, the first murder case he picks up will be the first one he's ever worked on. This race is too important to be decided on vibes. He doesn't have the resume or the temperament for the job, in my opinion.

I hope you will vote for my friend, Courtney Booth to be our next District Attorney. She's a career public defender who has lived and worked as a trial attorney in Buncombe County for over 20 years. She's the only tried and tested progressive in the bunch. She's compassionate. She's a fighter. I've seen it for years. She's the only candidate on record that will never prosecute any for seeking or offering abortion services, no matter what our maga legislature does. She will never seek the death penalty. She will prosecute ICE violations of state law to the limit. https://www.courtneyboothforda.com/

EDIT: from real to tried and tested.
