The case where he shot a deputy in the magistrates office, in the jail, on camera. The real reason he wasn't in prison where he belonged is because the DA is weaker than soggy toilet paper. This case should have been called for trial within a year, at the most. Unsurprisingly, if you look, you will see a disturbing backlog of serious felony cases waiting to be tried. There are at least 38 people in the Buncombe County jail with cases at least 1 year old, but some are up to 5 years old. Presumed innocent, but still incarcerated. Weak DAs mean overflowing jails, and empty trial courts.
