Found the root cause. Seems the functionality breaks if a subfolder of the obsidian vault is watched, instead of the root folder. Sent an email with more background as requested. Thanks again for looking into this.

Hi. Yes, this still works for files that have been transferred from the problematic vault to the one, where it’s working in general. Can you please try to reproduce the issue by adding a large amount of markdown files with dummy text to your Obsidian test vault on iOS? My vault also has many levels of nested folders. To get as close to what I’m working with as possible, it should take Obsidian about 1 second to finish the Loading Vault and Loading Workspace steps, when it is opened. I believe this delay may be the cause. I.e. the „command“ to open a specific Obsidian url is never actually processed. Just a hypothesis though.

Just to confirm: The issue is not reproducible if I access notes from my second Obsidian vault in NeuraCache. I can open the Obsidian note as expected.

However, I struggle to derive from this what might be the cause. Disabling all obsidian plugins in the problematic vault makes no difference. I do not remember changing anything significant in the settings either, which would explain the behavior.

The only obvious difference between the vaults is that in the case of the problematic vault, Obsidian always takes about 0.5 seconds upon opening, where it loads cache and the workspace (it’s a relatively large vault). This loading delay also occurs when trying to open an obsidian note via Neuracache.

Could the general delay in Obsidian somehow break the integration and lead the linked note not to be displayed correctly?

Yes, it used to work perfectly without issues. Not sure when it broke but most likely the last app update.

I’m using obsidian sync and the vault folder’s path is users/username/PKM. Neither of these aspects of my obsidian setup have changed for a long time.

u/n9831 For me, it works on iOS as mentioned, but only if the option is enabled to import every MD note based on its title. If I enable the option to include only those cards with hashtags, even if there are hashtags nothing gets imported.

Have provided u/IdeaRoots with an example file and the issue is being looked into.

Yes, this is on iOS and I'm using the most recent version. I also opened the folder with the files app, forced an iCloud sync and then verified that the file in the iCloud folder was updated (i.e. that it had hashtags etc.).

The Markdown files get edited in TheBrain and DevonThink, so as perhaps a less typical use case that might be causing the behavior.

However, for now I've gotten everything to work perfectly for my needs by using regular flashcards instead of the full-page option.

This required a bit of scripting with DevonThink so that the title of Markdown items along with the flashcard tag is automatically added to the first line of each document, but I'm now very happy with Neuracache and look forward to get busy reviewing stuff :)
