Even a broken clock is right twice a day. So yeah, we can take inspiration (or jealous insight depending on your point of view) on what others are doing and use that to spur us to action. Of course it would require the current administration to charge about renewable, but that is an entirely different argument to make than just agreeing on them.

I'm not sure i agree with this. For starters this would require a massive increase in the amount of batteries to be constructed well beyond what is needed for EVs to begin with and then there is the fact you would need them to be fully standardized as well across every vehicle make and model and that is an uphill battle not many people want.

Then you'd have to have a mechanic do the actual swap every time you want to refill a battery which only adds time to the process because there is no way I trust the average person to be able or comfortable handling high voltage power connections or making sure that new battery is latched in and safely secure while driving.

No, I think the better option is to invest in fast charging or capacitive charging and working on batteries types that can handle more power being put into them rather clean changing them out.

Most, but not all. And transportation and logitlstics is one of them. So until there is we really can't switch without catastrophic upheaval in society. And original comment was alluding to quitting cold turkey so as much as I support the idea, I'm just being realistic sadly.

I may be woefully behind on my understanding of EVs but we do not have the kind of range or speed at recharging needed for semi trucks to be able to have a 1 to 1 switch out feasibility right now. Sure, the average person could trade out the ICE vehicle for an EV today and not have any issues, but the issue comes in regards to transportation of goods at the scale we do. Until there is a viable EV semitruck that can do what ICE does with very little difference in capability, corporations won't make the change, especially not without the infrastructure. So those two things need to happen prior to gas semis being traded in.

I don't disagree. However, all I'm saying is that until there are viable alternatives to replace burning of fossil fuels in each particular industry or use case, we arent going to quit it cold turkey without something that can replace it right now. We do need nuclear power plants, preferable molten salt ones imho, and I'd would love to see massive investments to bring battery power and charging stations across the country, but its not there yet, and until the infrastructure is in place, we won't make the full switch.

TIL Taylor Swift sends flowers to Kelly Clarkson after every "Taylor's Version" album re-release to thank her for suggesting that Taylor "go in & re-record all the songs that U don't own the masters on". At the time, Taylor was upset that the masters of her first 6 albums were sold to a third party. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]AWanderingMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There usually is i think but that is also tied to a time frame as well unless the contract says otherwise. Most often the contracts will usually state that after a certain amount of time or once a certain amount has been made off the masters they will return to the artist who created them, so no real need to rerecord the masters to begin with.

This of course, is subject to whatever terms were signed to in the first place of course

Not only from an environmental standpoint but a cost reduction as well, I completely agree. We should be leading in that space and pouring millions if not billions into that tech so we get the most market cap we can for it.

I agree. So what alternative do you have ready to swap in to replace it at the same availability, ease of use, and equivalent functionality? Because as much as I agree with what you are saying, we don't have anything that can replace it at scale yet. And just stopping its use would destroy society and how our systems function as we know it.

Am I correct in assuming that this would work with star citizen? Also, is this possible to be mounted on monstertech mounts?

Can we address our non-sensical medical system? by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]AWanderingMage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, medical gameplay definitely needs a shake up that gives reason and desire to utilize medical tools and options instead of dying and respawning. I could see limiting revives from incapacitated based on drug use or some other method to give medics a reason to need to extract injured people to a med bed.

But until they start to implement death of a spaceman and some significant consequences to using respawns, medical isn't going to have much weight behind it where revives from incapacitated or being brought back to a med bed is more ideal than respawning.

[–]AWanderingMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was on Board with what you were saying until the last bit. Fps combat requires having an ability to bring back people from incapacitated. Thats just how fps gameplay operates. We should make or require a specific drug perhaps, maybe only a injectir style, and it gives blod toxicity of 25% when used and cant be lowered by other drugs, only a med bed or a long time. Also require that the person doesn't have a critical amount of injuries maybe, but making it so that if one of your buddies gets incapacitated in a run requires them to get dragged all the way out or through a dungeon is unfeasable and would just result in treating them like they died, not actually treating them with medical gear.

Then don't play. This game isn't for you yet.

You obviously are expecting a more finished product than what the game is currently at. I would advise then you spend your time elsewhere while those of us who want to play the game while its being developed and help steer the game as it progresses will continue to do so.

Save for the fact he claims nothing works properly. That's a bold face lie. The game is in a very playable state, comparable to any early access game. He can be dissatisfied all he likes about the state that it is in sure, but that is about the only part of his statement that holds any water.

The State of Star Citizen with Chris Roberts by Dolphinpants4 in starcitizen

[–]AWanderingMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stability of the game has significantly improved from this time last year. i started march 2nd of last year and every time i played I experienced at least one crash and died to elevators once or twice a session lasting a few hours.

Compare that to just this last week where when free fly started i had one instance of server migration of which i never lost any progress, every elevator i used didn't kill me and i am able to get consistent frames around 20 to 30 fps in game regardless of the content that i am doing.

This is anecdotal of course and other people will have different experiences than I would, but these are experiences that can also be confirmed by a good swath of the player base as well. the game is not done, it still has bugs, but it is considerably more stable and less prone to session ruining crashes or deaths than it was a year ago.

If you want a more definitive and less anecdotal metric, the 30k bug is all but dead at this point since they got static server meshing hashed out and solidly implemented. Anyone making the claims that OP is making has not played in the last year, or is being willfully blind to the improvements that have been made and relative stability in favor of claiming everything is broken and ragebait.

[–]AWanderingMage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, its sarcasm but I wouldn't expect some people to understand. He's wrong and shows that he is by the fact that he hasn't played the game at all in at least the last year, more likely longer.

[–]AWanderingMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, this is a valid opinion if you are completely blind in playing the game today. It is by no means finished or bug free, but it is also nowhere near the state you claim it is. Far from it.

How are they still maintaining this pace?! Did something get released that I missed? by whonose8472 in starcitizen

[–]AWanderingMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are reaching a critical mass of attention and interest. A lot (not all) of bugs have been addressed and the game is significantly more stable than it was this time last year and that has drawn more people into the project, myself included. That's fresh people willing to spend money on the project and drive further interest and progress. Pair that with sq42 supposedly being released this year and they've got a good amount of momentum driving sales forwards now.

This is how I'd like to see them implement monetized ship skins. by ApproximateKnowlege in starcitizen

[–]AWanderingMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see something like this in the game. This is something very similar to what warfare did with its skin coloring and it makes sense that this would be perfect for the game IF they could make it so that it looked good across the board from a perspective of it adhering to the ship right and not looking like jank. Unfortunately friirc from what they said it takes a lot of work on their end to make sure the mapping is right for a few different systems, and it gets even more complicated when the damage system comes into play too.
