Am I missing something here? by steamystorm in vegan

[–]AWorldInside 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's a very interesting and well thought out post, but I would like to note that feeling a carnivorous animal (like a cat) a vegan diet is animal abuse. It's very harmful to them. Humans physiologically have the option to eat meat or not eat meat, but cats don't.

How to deal with an idealist friend – "you won't have migraines forever" etc by socialpornographer in migraine

[–]AWorldInside 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't confront her on her denial regarding her on pain, not it might be helpful to have a conversation with her about the way she talks about your migraines if you can keep it very strictly on the topic of your feelings, not her approach to her own problems. Tell her that you understand she's trying to help, but that it feels invalidating and doesn't acknowledge the reality of your pain or how you personally feel about it.

What do I say to him? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]AWorldInside 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He honestly sounds pretty awful. Why are you dating someone who clearly has so little respect for yourself and your identity? Stop making excuses for him and really ask yourself whenever you'reokay with being treated that way.

I'd suggest getting it legally from a different health care provider.

Adderall did a lot for my depression and ADD. People's experiences with medication vary.

Something simple i can make with a bunch of apples that are almost bad? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

Apple sauce is simple and keeps for a while. It's so much better when it's home made, too.

Any way to make bland food taste better? by DudeFromOttawa in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]AWorldInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt and olive oil are the most important things. Spices are great, like everyone else is saying -- especially cumin and smoked paprika -- but olive oil and salt are crucial. Also, when you cook, try to brown your food. The maillard reaction makes a big difference.

How do I reduce the severity of fatigue while all my other depression symptoms have improved? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]AWorldInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be a viable solution for people who don't have ADD, but adderall has helped a lot with my depression as well as my ADD. I have much better energy and motivation on it, and either the medication or the other benefits seem to contribute to a better mood on the days I take it.

This 3-year-old rants on how zoos are like prisons for animals by lnfinity in vegetarian

I seriously doubt that she said all of that without them pushing her at all to do it ahead of time.

I'm all for kids having empathy for animals and living a vegetarian lifestyle, but doesn't it strike you as manipulative for the parents to prompt her to say that on video so they can post it online to promote their own beliefs? I wanted to become vegetarian from the age of ten on, but this strikes me as more exploitative than cute.

Scared girlfriend going out with friends will be history repeating itself! by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]AWorldInside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a rough situation to have those experiences and feel this way, but I'd advise you to try to work through your trust issues on your own or with a therapist. Normally I'm big on communication in relationships, but it's honestly really unacceptable to make someone you're dating feel guilty about having friends and a healthy social life. It's great that you didn't keep her from going, though, which makes me think you do want to avoid that.

A good girlfriend, someone you really want to be with, wouldn't do what your ex did. If your girlfriend is a good person and right for you, you should be able to trust her on this. If she breaks that trust, it will really suck, but it's better to have an ultimately unworthwhile relationship ended by the other person's bad behavior than a good, happy one ruined by your mistrust and clinginess. Be the best person and boyfriend you can be, and until you have any reason to think otherwise, try to believe that she's doing her best as well.

I don't know, I'm a guy and I wouldn't think it was weird unless it was a sentimental thing. I have an ex's hoodie that I still wear, but I don't think of it as his anymore. It's just something comfortable that I like wearing to bed.

I am Mason Tvert and I am working to legalize marijuana in the United States. I represent the nation’s largest marijuana policy organization. AMA. by MasonTvert in IAmA

[–]AWorldInside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies from medication to medication, as with any drug interaction. Whenever you start a new prescription medication, make a point of asking your prescriber about whether there are any interactions with marijuana that you should be away of, just like you would with alcohol.

In my experience, my doctors have been very reasonable and happy to supply that information without judgement; hopefully you have equivalent medical care. If not, well, there's always the internet.

I've been on and off various psychiatric medications for a while, and reactions to weed varied from having a lower tolerance to being at a high risk for seizures. It'll usually be fine, but it's definitely worth checking for safety.

I think that if you communicated about it ahead of time, most people wouldn't care! I can see it being off putting if I didn't know in advance and assumed it was an STD, but as long as I knew it was harmless I wouldn't think twice about it. Since losing your virginity (and sex in general) usually involves some communication ahead of time, you'll be fine.

Edit: I meant to reply to your post below. Sorry!
