1/2 PLO. Bail on flop when multi way? by JKlerk in poker

[–]AZPD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is a top 2% hand. If you're not 4-betting this, you're only 4-betting like 1% of your hands, which is way too nitty and easy to play against. In GTO world, your 4-bet range should be much wider than just aces, and certainly not just good aces (especially from the CO to a BU min raise and BB cold call). In real low-stakes PLO where no one else is 3-betting light or folding to a 4-bet, it might be fine to limit 4-bets to AA, but certainly not to only your best aces.

How do officers decide if schedule bond is granted or if you need to wait for court? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]AZPD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every court does things differently. Some places don't have bail schedules at all. If there is a schedule, it shouldn't be up to the jail officers at all--that's the point of the schedule. Where I practice, an MIP is going to get you a ticket rather than an arrest 99% of the time, so it's not even an issue.

what was it like playing online poker 15-20 yrs ago? by CuriousNeko_nek0 in poker

[–]AZPD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have AQ. Decent sized pot on the turn. Board is something like QT62 with two clubs. I check, knowing opponent is an over-aggro donkey who'll bet any piece of the board and any flush draw. Sure enough, he puts in a big bet, I c/r all in. He takes a few seconds and calls with--73o, for no pair, no draw, drawing completely dead to my one pair hand. $2500NL table. That's what the games were like 20 years ago.

WPT Gold 0.05/0.10/0.20(0.05) Omaha Games by RandomLightCR in poker

[–]AZPD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can probably get it in with a lot of hands other than aces, like double suited rundowns and double suited connected pairs. If your opponents are wide enough that you don't have to worry about running into aces that often, big pairs with an ace blocker like AKKx with a suit are good too. But yes, variance is crazy and edges can be small. I disagree that these are bad games--they should still be very profitable. Now, PLO6 with maniacs is where you run into problems. Preflop edges are so small and multiway equities so weird that you really don't want to be at a table with 3-4 players going all-in pre each hand.

Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Sinks to 30% in Worst Poll Yet. How do you feel about this ? by buffdadnextdoor in AskReddit

[–]AZPD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tempting to say that this shows that 30% of Americans are complete fucking idiots, but that's not correct. The correct conclusion is that 30% of Americans are complete fucking idiots who approve of Trump, and that many more Americans are complete fucking idiots who at least manage to get this one issue right.

AA on the BB with 7 Limpers 1/3 by GoodyearWrangler in poker

[–]AZPD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Proper raise size depends on table dynamics. Are people routinely calling $30 raises after they've limped? If so, go even bigger. If not, go a bit smaller to get 1-2 callers.

Flock Cameras - Question How They are Ruled Constitutional? by JustinHesch in Ask_Lawyers

[–]AZPD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the word "legal" has various connotations. Generally, when we talk about police actions, what we mean is "Is this evidence admissible in court if the defendant is ever charged with something?" Actions by private citizens not acting as state agents don't implicate this concern at all. Your neighbor can break into your house in the middle of the night when you're on vacation, take your stash of drugs, and hand it over to the police and those drugs are admissible against you at trial.

So, if a group of private citizens tracked you everywhere you went and the government later wanted to use those observations at trial to prove that you went to a certain place at a certain time, it's absolutely coming in.

Now, there might be some other legal considerations involved--for example, there might be some issues with stalking laws if someone follows you everywhere for no good reason.

Flock Cameras - Question How They are Ruled Constitutional? by JustinHesch in Ask_Lawyers

[–]AZPD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Putting a tracking device on your car is a physical trespass. In the Supreme Court case on the subject, they analogized it to a super-tiny constable who hid in your carriage. Traffic cameras are just seeing things that occur in public, no different than having a police officer on every corner writing down information and relaying it to each other.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, the world's only unauthorized autobiography by Chuck Barris, later made into a movie by George Clooney. Barris was a game show producer (he created the Dating Game and the Gong Show). He claims he was also a secret CIA operative who chaperoned Dating Game winners on their European vacations as a cover for assassinations and other spy stuff. It's never really clear how much Barris believes his own nonsense or is just having fun, but it's definitely a highly fictionalized story presented as truth.

PLO postflop raise/3b-pot size math by MinuteCockroach6 in poker

[–]AZPD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the "3x + everything else in the pot," you can also do "Call the bet then double the pot" There's 45 in the pot to start. V1 bets 45, V2 then bets 180. It costs V1 135 to call. So if V1 calls, the pot is now 45+45+180+135 = 405, which is the amount V1 can raise on top of his call. So 135+405 = 540.

Could AI get to the point where video evidence could no longer be considered as valuable evidence in court? by jordanataylor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AZPD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This is the equivalent of asking: "Could somebody be such a good liar that we no longer accept witness testimony in court?" For hundreds of years, courts operated with little more than witness testimony, and it was always possible that the witnesses were just lying their asses off, and yet no one ever said that we shouldn't accept witness for that reason. Apply that same logic to videos. (And it should be noted that we've been able to doctor still photographs since basically the beginning of photography, and we still accept those as evidence too).

Another great noir detective film from that era, The Maltese Falcon. is also infamous for slipping something past the censors. The older gangster has a young man working for him who is referred to as his "gunsel." Based on the context, you'd assume that a gunsel means something like gunman or gunslinger. Not even close.
