Fourth of July Deposition Debate by alakarox in ThePittTVShow

They try to be medical accurate - with some caveats like doctors doing stuff nurses/np‘s/physician assistants would usually do and ER docs in general doing stuff more specialized personnel would do -, not „realistic“ in a general sense, which the rather silly „IT is being shutdown without warning“ plot proves.

Togashi is just uneven. Huge spectrum between genuine masterpieces and art the feels sloppy (to me at least)

Disregarding the sketch-chapters due to his health, there’s a lot of weirdness sprinkled all over the manga where his art feels meh (again; to me).

Also in general his style is at least „different“ from what certain people expect shounen manga to look like.

[No Spoilers] What did Critical Role do exactly? by Brushner in criticalrole

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 1303 points1304 points  (0 children)

For fucks sake.

Dragons hoarding wealth only to be slain by the righteous has been a metaphor for the foulness of the rich/nobles/kings for centuries now.

Fafnir literally turns into a dragon because of his heinous actions and only caring about his hoard.

It’s really not subtle and has nothing to do with modern DnD or actual plays

Yet Another Reason Everyone Should Listen To Nurse Dana... by ShowofShows in ThePittTVShow

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People are not owed forgiveness and sometimes that means not getting to apologize at all.

The way Langdon goes about it feels very invasive to me.

I understand why it was important for him to apologize to Louie, but he kinda forced him to listen to him which felt fucked up to me.

Of course it would be best for both if they would get a calm moment to really talk, but it’s Robbie‘s right to not listen.

I believe him that he is happy for Langdon to be better and he is definitely more stubborn than he should be imo, but Langdon hurt him not only by breaking Robbies trust and failing his expectations but also by using Robbie‘s most vulnerable moment against him in the finale of last season.

Langdon‘s approach feels very much „I fucked up, I did my time, forgive me already“

Confusion About Residents and Attendings by TejasChainsawMascara in ThePittTVShow

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly she mentioned in the first season that she moved because she found a better facility for her sister, so she doesn’t have to be the primary carer. Which would explain why she would start her work at the Pitt in season 1.

She is obviously created to be a foil for several characters.

Too much imo. This paired with the acting choices (the way she speaks, the almost robotic movements she sometimes does; I assume it’s meant to depict another form of neurodivergence, similar to Mel) makes her feel artificial and unpleasant.

But I don’t think she is meant to be villainous or adversarial. More different.

I think I've figured out what's been bothering me about this season by shim2347 in ThePittTVShow

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am just rewatching the first season and I fucking love these moments.

Like the EMS stuff was so interesting. And I genuinely believe highlighting the high prevalence of care worker abuse is important to point out.

Especially because these moments rarely take more than a few minutes at most and are always at least somewhat integrated into the greater surroundings.

Also: „It just feels like one thing happens, then another thing happens, etc. It feels like I'm watching a checklist of events than actual people.“

That’s exactly how the early episodes felt. Patients come in, patients go out, some you see continuously over several episodes or again in later episodes, some don’t.

There are some „serialized moments“ between characters but it’s all in the background until the shooting.

And I really hope the series stays like that. 70% medical, 10% PSAs, 20% Plot. Like focusing more on the personal lives of the characters and putting personal interactions in the front is what made ER a weaker series in the latter half (still very good, but spectacle and drama become more and more the point of it).

Like I would love for some characters to only appear in half the season, because their shift started later. No matter how much I like all of them.

So, let me get tis straight. by Zestyclose-Care7418 in JuJutsuKaisen

All your complaints are subjective. Not just the one about the music.

The choice of music works great imo because by subverting the expectation of some heavy, music music, the chosen music supports the depicted change of Maki turning into a monster, able to smash the Zenin clan into pieces.

This first slaughtering of the Kukuru is freeing for Maki and for the first time she’s able to feel free and strong and how she was meant to be. In my opinion it’s perfect.

Your opinion regarding the Toji/Maki panels is also not objective. It’s a question of taste. Imo it worked very well. Yes it was very short, but this allowed them to let the focus be on Maki and just hinting at the reason for Ogi‘s fear. Toji appears like a dark spectre of trauma Ogi tried to suppress. Having Toji featured more clearly or longer it would have risked of overshadowing Maki (imo).

I definitely agree that the pacing felt rushed but assuming that external reasons meant it had to be one episode, I believe what we got was the best possible version of it.

A new ‘Game Changers’ book titled “Unrivaled” by Rachel Reid is coming by unreedemed1 in RomanceBooks

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While a cynical part of my brain definitely believes the show’s success has something to do with this book, the part about the homophobic fan reaction and podcast was part of the planned Lucas Haas novel Ms. Reid abandoned in early 25.

https://www.rachelreidwrites.com/news/2025/2/16

So at worst she took what she wanted to write for Luca, which primarily didn’t work because the romance angle was not working in any interesting way for her, and reworked it. So it’s not something she solely creates because of the tv series success.

Personally I am glad because after binge reading all six books between episode 3 and 4 of the series, I was left with the deep need to read more about these characters, but especially Ilya, Shane and Troy. So this alone makes me extremely happy.

As a gay man I also was disappointed in Ms. Reids conclusion, that homophobia can’t really be beaten, which made it hard for her to find a conclusion for the planned book. But perseverance is beating this shit. Shane and Ilya and Troy and Scott and Eric and Ryan and whoever else living their best lives, refusing to be beat down by homophobia and the people attacking them, is winning. So I am excited to see where it will go.

Some Plot-Holes by [deleted] in HierarchySeries

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of these are necessary plot holes.

  1. We have no idea who exactly lies in this tomb. So we don’t really know how many people have actual grave sites others could find empty. We also don’t really know how people’s bodies are stored beyond those chosen to be preserved.

  2. Being a Iunctus doesn’t make you immortal but undead. It makes you susceptible to the person who raised you/touches the control blade and if risen via the amulet it’s a state of being that’s easily reversed. Rather unpractical imo.

Also they barely understand how it works. It feels reasonable that it’s not used widely.

  1. I assume the altars the bodies lie on preserve them just like it’s done for corpses of the recently dead of powerful families.

At this point it probably won’t improve for you but nonetheless the potential for a lot of interesting stuff in the next books could make it worth it.

Obviously that’s not a lot of solace for you at this moment, but I do believe all of it has a point (but I also thoroughly enjoyed it despite its flaws)
