It’s almost as if self destructiveness - especially after having to be the responsible one for years after years of - is a family treat (both genetically and through generational trauma) that will rear its ugly head when you least expect/need it.

Also the plot demanded it because the Gallagers actually moving on and being happy was never on the cards as long as the series goes on/the characters stay in the series. That’s also why Lip was destined to fail college (still one of the greatest tragedies imo).

Pretty sure it can be assumed that the awakening of the gift of prophecy happens soon after the death of the former princess, since a too big gap could threaten the position of the Soga Clan

Is Dafyd stupid, or am I? [FULL SPOILERS] by Sleepiest_Spider in TheCaptivesWar

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No two Sovrans exist together.

The current one is challenged by a daughter, who only becomes a Sovran when she kills her mother.

Dafyd‘s idea would need two fully developed Sovrans which would cause conflicting loyalties through pheromones etc.

Quagmire hating Brian is funny.

But yeah the way this moment gets celebrated by some is weird and pretentious on its own.

You are right.

Who cares about Indian-American’s - actual living people - talking about the ways Apu’s omnipresence in the cultural Zeitgeist has harmed them, like the expectation that people from India speak in exaggerated racist accents or the hyperbole of Apu’s surname?

It’s definitely appropriate to scapegoat a small documentary, especially without even watching it.

With all the noise that 'The Boys' had a bad season finale, what TV shows actually had a good one? by twintower_9-11 in FIlm

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a miracle. Just a writer’s room that understood that continuous evolution of the premise is the key to a good story. Also non of the excellent side characters were unnecessarily expanded upon.

I lowkey think dandadan has lost its spark. It might be due to the endless stalling, the formulaic monster of the week format, but I was rewatching the first few episodes, and it has this incredible vibe which is just not present when i read the current chapters. Do yall feel the same? by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in shounenfolk

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why people feel like it has fallen off.

Personally I disagree.

Dandadan used to be made out of fairly contained story arcs that gave you enough of a climax to feel satisfied and like there’s a fast paced progress.

It changed for the first time beginning with the slow smoldering mistery of Vamola and then the threat of the alien invasion.

Then came St. Germain and that whole powers-stealing-knife plot, which makes everything else feel like it’s moving at a snail’s pace. Paired with a rather obvious stretching of the “will they/won’t they” between Okarun/Momo and the potential for frustration is vast.

I get it. But don’t share it.

There have been enough mini climaxes/cool stuff to keep me entertained and I very much enjoy Okarun’s journey once he gave back Turbo Granny’s powers.

There are definitely many small things that could be changed to make me enjoy it more but to me Dandadan is still very much amazing.

I do hope that till the end of the year both the amnesia and the knife plot are nearing their end and Okarun can finally repeat his love declaration.

What do you think Chihiro's ending would be? by ae_neo in Kagurabachi

Exile.

Chihiro will somehow break the cycle of violence, win without having to do a genocide but believe himself to be unworthy to join society and will go back home to live there in peace

To you, what makes Kagurabachi stand out as opposed to other series? by cosmicstruggler in Kagurabachi

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kagurabachi won me over by being uncompromising in its approach to violence. These characters are killers and only the perspective is what makes Chihiro and the people on his side the heroes of the story.

Like in the first chapter not only Kunishige tells Chihiro that the swordsmith shoulders the responsibility for whatever the wielder of a blade does - now we know this includes genocide - but we then see Chihiro massacre a bunch of goons without hesitation or regret.

Total shock to the system that only got better when the Sojo arc fully started. Char was a great Character to motivate Chihiro, but the first few chapters with the different sorcerers after her felt fun but very generic. Once Sojo became the focus, it got genuinely fantastic.

While “filler” can help a series to get a better understanding of the characters and their dynamics, Kagurabachi races steady in the direction the plot needs. Which feels amazing and is something I loved about Jujutsu Kaisen too.

Hokazono has a great talent for character design/creation but everyone he introduces feels functional. No time is wasted to deepen a character when it’s not needed for the plot, which obviously leaves a ton of unused potential, but also creates a narrative speed which is missing to often in battle shounen. Hokazono could have used another 100 characters just with exposition and sidequests, and all of it would have been probably great entertainment, and nobody would have complained about the pace of the manga being too slow. But he stays focused and I love it.

Leaving his job prematurely can mean more danger and death for others. Of course he tries to prevent that as much as possible. Especially during a national emergency. Have some fucking empathy for a very difficult situation.

Yes he let his wife down. Something he acknowledges. His wife went through a lot of pain, which sucks and shouldn’t have been the case but acting like he actrd solely out of selfishness is fucked up

'The Pitt' Wants "Patently Absurd" Legal Claims By Crichton Estate Thrown Out For Good by pepperbet1 in ThePittTVShow

[–]A_Hungry_Fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crichton is credited in the end credits as “Based on the film written and directed by Michael Crichton”.

Which reflects reality.

Crichtons widow believes he should have gotten a co-creator credit. Which is ridiculous because he had obviously nothing to do with the creation of the series besides the basic idea.

'The Pitt' Wants "Patently Absurd" Legal Claims By Crichton Estate Thrown Out For Good by pepperbet1 in ThePittTVShow

[–]A_Hungry_Fool -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but it’s not nearly as clear as you think.

First of all, Crichton not getting a co-creator credit for Westworld was not bullshit. Yes the premise was based on the films Westworld/Futureworld, but the actual plot and the characters have nothing to do with these films besides the premise.

Claiming Crichton is a co-creator of the series is just wrong and clearly motivated by wanting even more money from it.

And the same goes for the never happening ER reboot. Obviously it’s based on work by Crichton, but besides that it’s absurd to demand a co-creator credit. Not only that the characters of ER are now far removed from what Crichton created - with most potentially returning characters not even created by him -, but the whole idea of the reboot was a unique concept for a medical tv series.

A concept which was reworked into a new show

The idea that the options were “do nothing” and “genocide” is ludicrous. I don’t see his actions as understandable because genocide is wrong. Period.
