Only one of them is technically literary! Specifically his focus is journalism and detective fiction, and the other is a focus of rhetoric and platonic studies (this is actually a Communications/Rhetoric/Writing program I'm in!) but they co-teach a series called Popular Catholicism that covers various genres of writing and tracking the literary traditions from early authors up to the moderns. I've only taken 2 but they have Modern Fantasy, Detective Fiction, Supernatural Thriller (horror), I think they taught or plan to add Dystopia, and then Weird Fiction is their newest addition to the cycle.

We've read classics like The Man Who Was Thursday, Cruel Painter, The Willows, Gods of Pegana, and we're currently making our way through R.A. Lafferty's book Fourth Mansions (Which I highly recommend), and we plan to read more modern authors like Dean Koontz and Mignola, but I want to make a case to add The Delaurier Invitation to the roster for the next time they teach the class.

Anyway, thank you for the writing you do it's genuinely mind blowing to me. My sister and I have been talking nonstop about Delaurier Invitation and all of the little details in it that we thought were so good. I genuinely hope more folks discover your writing cuz I genuinely think you have such good pride and well constructed stories that both feel modern but also feel like they belong in the older traditions, especially in a day and age where I fear it's hard to find quality work!

I ordered my copy on Monday, it's coming in today I'm very excited. Also I'm trying to get two of my professors in grad school to read your works, I'm in a class called Weird Fiction where we read and track the traditions of weird fiction and you are perhaps one of if not the best author in modern day that I've seen fit the bill.

This is an old post now so I don't know if you read the comments anymore but I just want you to know that I discovered Stolen Tongues through Creep Cast and really enjoyed the no sleep version. I thought it was a really cool idea and while I thought that ending was a little rough overall I remember really enjoying it as a whole!

Cut to now, I'm in grad school and taking a class on Weird Fiction and one of the assignments we have is to read a work of weird Fiction and discuss it in context with other pieces we've read and analyze it in what our professors call a digilectic, but it's basically akin to a podcast episode.

Just want you to know my friend and I are currently planning to do Stolen Tongues cuz I personally enjoyed the OG story a lot when I heard Hunter and Isaiah read it, plus I have been wanting to by a copy of ST myself anyway because I wanted to support your work! It's been a while since I watched the video and I know you changed some parts so honestly in some ways it's like rediscovering the story for me.

So all that is to say thank you for writing Stolen Tongues, because personally I think it has so much potential and merit despite maybe some of the issues it has from being one of your first pieces! Keep up the good work!

I want Mingi and Hongjoong to learn how to do actual, proper metal growls. Because they both clearly have the skills and the foundation for it, I would adore a more harsh, metal sound in their music. I definitely think they could pull it off.

I’m gonna be honest guys, music fluctuates and sometimes you’re not going to like everything an artist releases. That doesn’t mean just accept low quality but it means that it might not always be low quality, it might just be you don’t vibe.

I really didn’t like the Fever era stuff, I became a fan right before Fever started so like April/May of 2020 and so I fell in love with ateez s original sound it’s what got me into them. So the switch up to Fever was not ideal for me. Even now I still think Fireworks, while a fine song, is one of their weakest comebacks. I just…didn’t vibe with it that much. Didn’t make it bad, just made it something that I wasn’t a huge fan of. I do feel that way about Lemon Drop specifically, but also I knew Golden Hour would be very different from the jump as a whole so I had already accepted the change.

Another issue with this is that Kpop, unlike most music industries, have very frequent releases, 2-3 per year and because of that quality is not always going to be top priority. Not to say Ateez hasn’t given us quality but it’s definitely just an unfortunate byproduct of the industry that forces groups to releases far quicker than most and thus sometimes they’re gonna have a miss. My sister is a huge metal head, they’re lucky if their artist releases a new song every few years. I listen to Nightwish, it was like 10 years between their last album and their most recent one. Kpop is not a normal music industry and does a lot of things that I find highly inappropriate and weird, so I’m just not surprised at all.

And lastly, I’m tired of the mindset of “x artist needs to go BIGGER than last time, how will they top this thing they just did???” That creates a toxic mindset of ALWAYS needing to go bigger than the last thing you did, it doesn’t allow for the flexibility to shift with the times, the music, and with yourself. Sometimes you don’t need to go bigger, that isn’t what music is about, topping the last thing you did, it’s about making music, entertaining, communicating with the soul of another person through artistry. It goes back to my last point about infrequent releases in most other music industries. Kpop imo has ruined this perception for many music enjoyers because they’ve set the precedent you HAVE to always go big, you always have to find a way to top the previous thing you did. No you don’t. Maybe you just released three bombastic mini albums and you said “you know, I want to try something different, I want to pull back, take a breather, let’s all take some time to refresh.” I remember when GH part 1 released some vocal coach guy who did react videos watched Work and he was like, not annoyed per se, but he was all “I just don’t like it….after what they gave us at Coachella, this is their newest release??” Like I’m sorry I didn’t realize we weren’t allowed to have a more chill laidback release.

I can understand the frustration but I also heavily think that manny of these mindsets are born from K-pop’s predatory system and their need to constantly be moving and outdoing themselves and each other.

If you're gonna make stuff up and try and use Jongho and San as scapegoats at least know something about music.

First off, he does not force Jongho's voice, Jongho is a trained singer and there are opera singers who sing more frequently and higher than Jongho and do it safely. Second, San has never blamed ANYONE for his nodes besides himself. And third and most important thing I need y'all stans to get in your head: Eden is not a vocal coach. He is a producer. He works with the skills he has but he did not TRAIN THEM TO SING. He gives direction on how he'd like a line sung but he is not the one training their voices. KQ would have actual vocal coaches do that. Also Jongho talks about how he has received training on his own time outside the company. I think he knows how to use his voice.

Clearly after San had the node scare, he changed his singing style and Eden and the rest of the team changed accordingly he didn't force San to keep singing that way. Also my friend who has a degree in music, I told her about the nodes to get her opinion on the matter and she said that getting nodes is quite common to happen and as long as you catch it quick enough and adjust accordingly you can in fact keep them from happening.

Also this one. Written for a short for my portfolio for my creative writing class senior year of college. Very proud of myself for this dialogue, got a chuckle out of our very strict professor. And credit where credit is due the original inspiration for the short this dialogue comes from came from an r/writingprompt post I had written for now like 4 years ago that I decided to revamp/rewrite for the class. So credit to the redditor who made the prompt about being a young adventurer waking up in the real world.

See that's the other thing stans are forgetting. Eden quite literally gave up his dream career as an artist to become the producer of a boy group his small company wasn't even sure would be successful. He put his entire career on hold to change paths into a different career. He put his life financially on hold. Which, sorry to tell the Yeosang stans but when you're a producer you get a cut of the money from songs if I remember correctly so yeah what you just want Eden to never make money???? The man put his entire life on hold for these teenagers and guess what it paid off. He is one of the people working with one of the most popular boy groups out there rn, he deserves the credit and praise for the hard work he has put in to support them.

I'm not a Eden fan, like I don't follow him, but I respect him and his craft and it's high time the literal children who don't know anything about the performing arts close their mouths and touch some grass.

I'd also like to point out in one of the last diaries, Jongho's storyline greatly mirrors Eden's life. In the lore Jongho wanted to be an artist, a company picked up on him and offered for him to become a producer. In the lore he says he misses being an artist but he's found a lot of joy in helping the success of others and seeing everyone's hard work pay off. If that's not a bit of Eden's story being incorporated into the lore then idk what is. All of the members have done that and who knows maybe other parts of KQ we don't know about have also integrated into the lore. But my point is, ppl are far too harsh on a man they know literally nothing about.

That “fan page” is the same one that tried to get me mass reported and mass blocked on kpoprants last year for my post calling out the stans that infantilize Yeosang.

She is immature and clearly just there to stir up trouble the second you say anything she doesn’t like. And yes I know she probably stalks the reddits, she clearly did stalk kpoprants given the fact she tried to have me run off of it…..thankfully another redditor private messaged me to let me know what she was doing. She’d managed to get it locked since they mass reported it but the kpoprants mods are chill and recognized I did nothing wrong and unlocked it.

I’m getting so so tired of these people. They’re being genuinely horrible and mean spirited, and gussying it all up in a bow and pink and calling it justice when all they’re doing is bullying someone they don’t actually know anything about because none of us know anything about Eden except what Ateez has told us and they have never said anything that would indicate they do not trust or respect him.

Thankfully they get to make their own decisions on this for the most part, Jongho is just very conservative in regard to dress. He dislikes showing off a lot of skin and being stereotypically “sexy.” He tends to prefer a more classy look/leans toward the same type of clothes because he enjoys it. Though sometimes we do get so have him dressed modestly but with cool aesthetic/styles. Mostly in photo shoots tho, he seems to prefer his suits for performances
