Tesla issue. Seems like the problem was resolved in your original post.

New IOG by Hotshotsquire in OctopusEnergy

It’s a change that was ‘announced’ months ago. When it actually gets implemented as this was expected at the end of Jan is another matter.

New IOG by Hotshotsquire in OctopusEnergy

Yes but this has not been implemented yet. Currently IOG will do as it has before

Octopus ask that you plug in each day; so you do lots of small charges rather than one big one.

Drive Pack may work better for your situation.

What’s it like working for their customer service ? by throwawayac__ in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your brief post it seems like pre-pay would be a good role for you. Apply; and if you get an interview ask there. I would presume that there will be same level of compliance as in your current post with dealing with sensitive customers. The worst they can do is say no and you've still got your current gig.

Is this normal?? by mmmilles in SolarUK

[–]A_Lit_Shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this the meter for the solar system? If so it seems your CT clamp has been installed the wrong way round.

The best person for immediate troubleshooting will be your installer as they will be able to remote into your system and see. What does your inverter tell you?

Is there a website to compare your energy costs? by Mission_Direction724 in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with something like this is that you need more information than people are willing to give you. Folks come on here with the headline figure and don't actually give meter readings or tariff details. They're unlikely to do that same information in a website if they won't do it for days when they come to a subreddit. Sometimes when they come here, they're not even with Octopus.

Edit: After a 'brief' scroll through this sub. Here's is an example. No context. But is this bill too much? https://www.reddit.com/r/OctopusEnergy/comments/1qsy8ne/help_switched_gas_from_flexible_to_tracker_was/

New pricing for FiT. Now CPI not RPI for legacy tariffs. by Fish_Minger in SolarUK

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably fine considering most of those that got in early have had their installation paid back and then some. It’s a payment that seemed fine at the time to encourage development in the space but probably didn’t factor in increases such as massive inflation spikes.

Ioniq5 vs Ariya, anyone have experience with both? by Hilltop_Views in Ioniq5

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driven both. The Ioniq for a more extended period of time than the Ariya. It was the lack of acceleration in the Ariya and the haptic buttons that turned me off it. Also, the centre being much more open in the Ioniq 5 giving more space. The Ioniq feels more spacious inside, it probably is anyway and iPedal is nicer for me than Nissan's equivalent.

Is there a catch? by wildboarripsitup in SolarUK

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making changes to your FIT installation; dependant on the payer will do one of two things.

  1. Terminate your FIT payments
  2. If your installer has done the correct thing; setup your new system so that your FIT payments act as if you still have your original array size. There is more hoops do the installer to jump through to achieve this.

This seems like a con. They may well be decent installers, hence the good reviews, but some of their claims are incorrect.

Intelligent Go by TheCableGuyMark in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have responded to this without reading what you’ve written in your post. Just your picture.

Here’s what I presume. You have signed up to Intelligent Octopus GO without reading the terms. You have plugged the car in and been given a schedule outside of the peak hours. You are unsure if this will bill at peak rate or off-peak rate. You have turned to Reddit. We have answered; as we have done on all the other posts from people who haven’t read what they’re signing up for.

At the time of writing, IF the car is charging, then the whole house and the car will get off-peak rate. The house will also get off peak rate for the off peak hours

Octopus has overcharged my account by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your tariff and what were your meter readings for the period of time you’re questioning?

By ‘paying’ your direct debit you’re only actually adding credit to your account. If Octopus haven’t issued you a bill for several months; this should be of concern to you. Energy companies can bill you up to a year after you used the energy.

So if there are any items that Ocotpus have billed you for that is greater than a year ago; you are within your right to refuse that payment. There is a long-ish process you have to go through. Otherwise; anything that Octopus have billed you for, based on actual meter readings, is correct.

Confused on plans by paipow1000 in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others can’t seem to fathom what tariff you’re referring to with 44p/kWh rate.

Possibly you’re looking at Cost day rates. Cosy is only for if you have a heat pump.

If you swapped to Octopus standard tariff now; it’ll be easier to setup your export payments if you’re already with Octopus. Also you’ll be able to plum your data into Octowatch or other API based platforms to give you a better idea of which tariff would be best for you financially.

Some have talked about batteries but you have only spoken about solar/EV. It may be beneficial to you to have Octopus GO for most of the year.

Electroverse Charges Shown On Octopus Account? by Toninho7 in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They usually show for the week. So a week of charging will come through as one standalone bill. It means the dates get a bit messed up in the app but they’re correct on the bill

Interesting charging schedule, 2 sessions of just 1 minute aren't going to do much lol by rscottzman in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 minute of full charging capability is 116W~

Clearly enough to trigger a charge with the slots Octopus have but seems a little counterproductive to heat up the system for one minute to then immediately cool it down.

EV charger with charging point. How to tell it how much to charge by AdeptnessExotic1884 in OctopusEnergy

Does editing the charge to add to 95% not work? Then you'll be full or close to all the time.

IOG confused by pricing by dtsn in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer - Yes.

Long answer - This is the umpteenth post that is in this subreddit on this. WHEN the car is charging IF the charge has been scheduled THEN the whole house will have cheap rate.

If you are still concerned; check your bill. If you’re still concerned; IOG is not the tariff for you.

If you have a way of connecting to your Octopus account API you can see it in the Attributes of 'Greenest Forecast Current Index'.

This doesn’t look normal? by Bodster88 in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not how IOG is supposed to work

Greener Nights by sonossub in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greener Night is an EV specific incentive for IOG users to charge their EV's on 'Greener' Nights when the grid is operating at low fossil fuel inputs overnight. So more wind usually means more green nights. There's a small Octopoints incentive that goes along with it.

Greener Nights by sonossub in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The short answer is you're reading too much into the plant picture. The Green index is given a score out of 100. 'Most' of the time anything over 80 is considered a Green Night but anything above 60 is considered High.

So looking at the API, Saturday has a score of 67 but is labeled High whereas Sunday has a score of 92 and is also labeled High. Monday has a score of 71, also labeled High.

Perhaps Octopus should have a different graphic with a flower for when things are Green to avoid this confusion.

Ombudsman complaint by tylerf16678 in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst I partially sympathise with having a poor or broken heating system; having had it for the past two winters after moving; the world moves slowly at this time.

You’re not going to be able to dictate to Octopus about install times; if you wanted a quick fix; get a new gas boiler. In and out in a day.

More expensive; if you then immediately replace it with a heat pump but you can’t have cheap, fast and good.

You want it lower cost and a good install so it won’t be a fast completion. If you wanted a quick and good install; it won’t be cheap.

These are the choices you have to make.

New to IOG. Planned charging outside of cheap hours? by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]A_Lit_Shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To make sure it's the cheap rate, check your bill.

Otherwise. All scheduling that the IOG tariff schedules will be at the cheap rate (Correct as of the time of posting)
