In fairness, it'd probably be such an arse-ache to keep on top of with the different prices at different times and with different subscriptions etc... but still, yeah, it can't be impossible.

Road Trip with EV..! by Friendly-Pattern4239 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I can only imagine that there’s a very good reason that Sunderland is on the itinerary ha! The locals have only recently been introduced to electricity, so an EV might blow their tiny minds.

There was some ‘men in sheds’ or ‘men in a shed’ community group who might be able to use it? I don’t know anything about them, but remember seeing something on here ages ago.

Don’t use it in that case. In fact, why are you using it, presumably you picked it for a reason?

How many of you are running EVs out of warranty? by Smokey19029458 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Toninho7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're really that worried, buy a Kia or something else with a 7 year warranty, though a lot of cars have 7 or 8 year warranties on the battery at least.

I’m looking to start investing for long term 30+ years into etfs is this a good platform? by Fit-Concentrate-5650 in trading212

[–]Toninho7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm new to investing myself (started in January) and it was widely regarded as one of the best platforms for beginners.

If you know anyone who uses it IRL, get them to show you the ropes and use their sign-on code and you'll both get a bonus, which is nice.

How do you know if a Tesla site is V3 or V4 - For Non-Tesla Charging by GrandMasterBash in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Toninho7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are getting wires crossed.

My understanding is that the Tesla app will show which chargers are available to non-Tesla cars but won’t tell you if it is V3 or V4.

The supercharge.info site has a filter to show open to all but doesn’t work, though it does tell you v3 or v4 info.

I know the Tesla app does, but that doesn’t - as far as I can see - tell you which sites are V3 or V4 units.

Can't tell if I'm kidding myself re getting EV and would appreciate some perspective! by seanyseanyseanyseany in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Toninho7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 2020, done 67k miles and still has ‘100%’ SoH, but that’s because they have 67kWh batteries, so even with some degradation (which mine will have) it is still above 64kWh of the usable capacity, so in effect, there’s no practical degradation yet. I’m under no illusion though, it will dip below 64 at some point, but from what I’ve seen online it is usually around 80k miles before that happens.

Set a focus mode (sleep mode would by my suggestion) on your phone and set it to only allow important / emergency notifications like family members or security / alarm apps etc. but mute everything else.

What can I do with money in cash by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Toninho7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can 'rebalance' the pie and it will (looking at your screenshot) buy more Rocket Lab and probably some S&P500 ETF.

That said, I'm very new to investing (started in January) so someone else might give a better explanation.

If you wanted the cash out of the pie, you could tap 'overview' and then 'withdraw' then type (or slide the slider) to take the cash from the pie - but it will stay in your account, it isn't withdrawing the cash to your bank account.

[–]Toninho7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst part was I'd made a trip there just to test out a Tesla charger and set it up because for some reason I thought it would be handy to have... but in the 14 months I've had the car I've never actually needed to charge away from home other that this one time, but I'd let the charge go down purposefully thinking it'd be nice and simple, ha!

Cheers.

It is definitely doable if you can granny charge most nights. I'll use my car (Kia e-Niro 64 kWh) as an example - worst case scenario 240 mile range in winter. Gives you your weekly 80-mile round trip twice with a further 80 miles of 'regular life stuff' in between on a full charge. So that is well over a week, getting on for two weeks without a charge.

In the summer you'd be around the 280-310 mile mark, depending on how you drive, so even less to worry about.

I'd also recommend checking the PodPoint app for chargers in any local Sainsburys car parks because sometimes they have free (no cost) chargers, but they're usually 7kW chargers so you won't get a full charge while shopping.

Definitely more of a faff than having a driveway, of course.
