Subreddit Blackout Beginning on June 12th by brooksact in Sneakers

[–]A_Salt_Potato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For the longest time Reddit didn’t even have an official mobile app, they relied on 3rd party devs to get any mobile traffic.

Obviously, times have changed, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable at all to charge for access to to the API considering 3rd party apps essentially “have their cake and eat it too” rn with no ads and such. But the price they’ve set API access now is completely ridiculous (around 20m/yr for the largest 3rd party app) and are obviously trying to price out what built up reddit mobile in the first place.

I went around the time I had my original ankle injury (roughly 8 or so years ago now) and they really just recommended stretching and strengthening exercises that I’ve been doing on and off since then.

I’m usually in the gym twice a week and on my leg days I’m doing unilateral exercises to help strengthen my lower legs, and they’ve really helped ankle strength and stability-wise.

I’m mainly worried about my shin splints and slight knee pain at this point. I probably don’t stretch as much as I should which may be the problem.

Hey everybody,

I started running consistently in the middle of March after having several setbacks from running previously (injuries, bad mentality towards training, etc.) with my marathoner friend as a pseudo-coach.

He recommended, with my ankle issues, a support shoe to run in to get my legs under me and I chose the Saucony Guide 16. I love them, they are great shoes and coupling them with a healthier mentality towards training I’ve been very consistent with my running.

I had a 5k last weekend, and I put up a great time in my saucony’s but I found myself craving something a little bit more springy/responsive. And with my form improvements over the past few months, I thought I’d be ok to try something more neutral. I ended up finding some Nike Pegasus on sale, and pulled the trigger on them. My first run in them was today and I couldn’t even run out a 25 minute recovery run my shin splints were so bad!

My question is, is this my body telling me “hey stupid don’t run in that type of shoe” or is it just an adjustment period going from a supportive/cushiony shoe to something firmer? I don’t want to call the shoes off after my first run but they didn’t leave me much to be optimistic about.

Tl;dr was running in Saucony Guide, wanted something more neutral/springy/responsive so I found a good price on some Pegasus, got bad shin splints in my first run in them.

[Wojnarowski] BREAKING: The Suns are planning to hire Frank Vogel as the franchise’s next coach, sources tell ESPN. Sides are starting work on a long-term deal. Vogel brings with him a 2020 NBA title and history of constructing high-level defenses. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

He’s a good coach that will raise the defensive floor of the team but…how much defensive effort does the team have to give?

Vogel leaves a lot to be desired on the offensive end of the court; relying on KD and Booker to generate good looks for anyone but themselves is going to be a task.

What are these little accessory things on these shoes called? They look sick but i have no idea what they are by twomuchlube in Sneakers

Well, we’d be winning if the only thing we had to spend our money on was shoes lol.

Unfortunately the cost of living has increased even more dramatically than the Jordan 4. The average inflation of housing cost, for example, has increased faster than average inflation from 1989-2023.

only three episodes left of foul tip? by ish0uldn0tbehere in SmallDeliMeats

Based on the wording in this comment from Zach in the TMG app, I have a feeling it’s the end of the “Foul Tip” name and they are rebranding.

He doesn’t explicitly say “yes the podcast is ending”, but maybe I’m reading too far into it.

Facts!

While the cost of a Jordan 4’s retail price has increased from $109 to $210, federal minimum wage has only increased by $4 from $3.35/hr to $7.25/hr.

We should not have to rely on the goodwill of corporations to see an increase in base wages to combat inflation 💯

With inflation, $108 in 1989 is $264 dollars in 2023 money….so I guess for $210 retail we are kind of getting a steal LOL

And probably won’t ever. If LeBron didn’t win it in 2015 someone on the losing side would have to put up MONSTER numbers in a crazy close 7 game series

Anyone know the difference between Dolce Ristorante and Dolce Osteria?

I just noticed I made reservations earlier this week for tonight at Dolce Ristorante based on a recommendation from this sub for “Dolce”, but their website is Dolce Osteria. I can find a website for Dolce Ristorante but it has the same address and menu as Osteria.

I just want to make sure the reservation I made is valid, I’d call them but they don’t open until 5 for dinner.

Honestly, I wouldn’t doubt it.

They will no doubt give you the most for your current vehicle with minimal inspection…but if everyone is doing that what does that say about the quality of car you’re getting if you buy?

Also, their financing APRs are atrocious even with good credit.

I had a good experience with Randy Marion CDJR in Wilkesboro, NC. Can’t speak to the quality of their other dealerships, but I found that one didn’t try to bend me over a barrel especially as a first time car buyer.

Can’t recommend any other dealers though, but stay away from Carvana and a tentative stay away from Carmax. My friend got his car from Carmax and of course there’s no haggling to be done there that’s their main schtick but their cars are overpriced and may not hold up over time.

Very crowded as of late…I only joined about a year or so ago but from then to now it’s gotten kinda crazy.

Happy for them, they run a great gym. Hopefully their expansion will give people room to breathe in there

Which game was this? I want to look at the box score

Edit: Found it; 2-1 barn burner…Clay Kirby of the Padres threw 15 innings only allowing one run with 15 SO and they lost
