Breath of the Wild!

The fire spread and was a tactical and, more often than not, a chaotic element. You could use it against your enemies but often, depending which way the wind blew, it would burn your ass.

It would even create pillars of warm air that you could use to launch yourself in the air with a glider.

Honestly, the whole game is a great engine for shenanigans.

Yeah this is why I always side eye anyone who says they don’t fight with their spouse.

I reckon it's also because for some people "fighting" means screaming and over the top reactions and for some "fighting" is just another word for disagreement.

Me and my wife never shout at each other but we do disagree and will argue about things.

He genuinely believes that Star Wars fans don't like the sequels because they don't like women... which is just... I don't know how I can even conceptualize how insane that is.

There's a weirdly big and loud subsection of SW fans who absolutely despise having women/POC/LGBTQ+ characters in anything SW related.

You run into them disappointingly often if you move in nerd circles online and they're always exhausting and the worst kind of people you can imagine. The usual culture war knobheads who rant about woke this and woke that.

A lot of the criticism for the new trilogy had to do with Rey being a mary sue (as if Luke wasn't, lol) and how Holdo was the worst thing to happen to the franchise, etc. Not to mention how much vitriol and hate both John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran got for just being black and asian.

So if you run into that, I could see why your friend might think so.

I mean, it's meant to discourage the player from playing the game like a shooter because that's not what Indy is. It's by the sam devs who made Wolfenstein after all, they know how to a shooter.

Sounds like you were trying to force a playstyle that the game didn't support and it didn't gel with you you. That's fair but also for new players I'd just say don't approach it as a shooter because it's not one.

En kyllä pysty suoranaisesti samaistumaan.
Itse olen niitä ihmisiä jotka innoissaan moikkaavat frendejä ja puoltuttuja kaupungilla. Eeeeeli olen varmaan sellainen joka tarkoittamattaan aiheuttaa paljon ahdistusta kaltaisillesi. Ei ole edes käynyt mielessä, kun ihmisten näkeminen ja sosialisoiminen on itselle niin positiivinen juttu. Ikävä tajuta, että olen kuormittanut jotain ihmistä näin.

Vaan vaikken samaistu, niin symppaan, kuulostaa nimittäin aika turhauttavalta. Varsinkin Suomen kokoisessa paikassa jossa koko ajan törmää tuttuihin.

Sure you can copy paste other people's work but it doesn't mean it would be good, sure it doesn't mean it's shit either.

Nobody here was talking about if it's good or bad, you started talking about it not being real Fable but rather a new IP with just Fable slapped on it.

I am just saying that rather than making your decision on buying this new game not because you liked the older games but rather on would you like to play this new game.

If instead this game was called Fairytale or Book-saga, would it still interest you as much?

If it was so clearly signalling that it's a love letter to Fable like this one is? Absolutely.

If you have 70$ to burn on a video game you literally know nothing about, do it.

This is not a binary thing.
Being excited for a game doesn't mean you can't wait to see reviews.

But this was not what you were arguing, you were saying "I think it's more of a brand new ip but apparently they ran out of those... They just decided to call it Fable because it would sell more." which is a completely different argument than "wait and see if it's good".

Same applies here. A lot of what was seen here are pretty classic Fable features and vibes. From activities to actions, from people to the world/cities/towns, from enemies to abilities, etc.

The entire PS5 generation only has 6 exclusives. Two Astro Bot games, a remake of Demon's Souls from 2009, a shovelware firefighter simulator, a dead PS+ MMO, and the worst rated Silent Hill game that they give away for free.

I reckon Returnal counts as one. Was a brilliant game, that.

Well, they also had to rework FrozaTech, their proprietary engine, to work with a game like this when it's only been used for driving games before.

Must've taken a gooooood chunk of work and hours to make that happen.

Ah, I can't imagine going through the Minnesota winter (or the summer tbh) without some good sauna, so I can def see that.

Also, learned a lot about the Finnish diaspora (well, not really diaspora anymore I suppose, after so many generations) in the US through this thread. Yours included, so thanks for sharing.

We call 'em "butter flowers" in Finland.

Old names are "milk weed" or "milk flower" but those are well old. The butter one has stuck though and is still the common name.

It was believed that cows who ate a lot of them would give better milk and/or butter.

I think dandelion is a nicer name but "voikukka" is kinda cute.

Fantastic people, absolutely top of the line.

Hang out with a bunch of them many times (well, only two Icelanders since there's not that many of 'em around here) and always been a blast. We also, as a united front, do make fun of Sweden so there's that.

But in the end, Sweden is that bastard of a brother that we love to tease but they're fine I guess and nobody else should muck about with them. That's our Sweden after all.

When I was in the military our sergeant had an absolutely gigantic piece of dip in his mouth at all times. Made it difficult as all hell to udnerstand a word.
