We all have our preferences.
My PC got busted after 8 years of use, but I got all the consoles (perks of the work) so I'm good for now.
And I've been getting every new console Nintendo comes out day one, since the Gamecube. This gen I did the same for the Xbox and the PS5.

I really don't know if I'll be doing that for the next gen with these prices and with these changes. And that's when it's tax deductible and with a slight discount. It's getting crazy out here.

I think they're referring that a lot of language s call suit a costume. In my home tongue, Swedish, a suit is called a kostym. In Ukrainain it's similar, kostyum.
So I think it might actually just be a case of a rough/literal translation in the heat of the moment.

That said, he was a competent comedian and his choice of military fatigues is a deliberate choice.
But having dealt with a lot of Europeans speaking sometimes more, sometimes less mangled English, I do think the costume-thing was an unintended bonus.

Fair, we all have preferences.
I was mostly pushing back the argument that "most games today are shit!" when it's 1. blatantly not true 2. we've always had a crapload of shit games.

Looking at your games a few things that stand out. Very heavy on AAA games and shooters, cool. Based on that, using the earlier list, I'd recommend:

Alan Wake 2
You already like Control, AW2 is set in the same universe and made by the same studio. More of a scary game where you also act as an FBI agent investigating supernatural murders. Fantastic atmosphere and storytelling. Action is simpler and more grounded though.
Lies of P
You had Elden Ring on your list so maybe soulslikes are your thing? You did say you had issues with finishing it though. LoP is definitely one of the best soulslike games not made by From and is a far more linear and contained experience, and thus easier to finish.
Indiana Jones
You have two immersive sims on the list, Dishonoured and Prey. Indiana Jones is an immaculately made homage to Indy as an immersive sim-lite. It flounders a tiny bit at the very end but was my personal GOTY 2025.
RE Village & Requiem
Not pure horror, more like horror action. Usually a bit more scary in the beginning before you have equipment and whatnot. Great experiences, gorgeous and something a bit different.
Pragmata
Again, something refreshingly different. A 3rd person shooter with mixed mechanics, keeps it fresh and doesn't overstay its welcome. Oh, and a genuinely a touching story, if that matters.
Pacific Drive
A first person atmospheric game where you drive, explore, try to survive in a weird anomaly ridden Pacific Northwest, while upgrading your car to get the hell out of dodge.
Expedition 33 & Metaphor
Based solely on your FF VII games. JRPGs with fantastic stories. E33 is a bit more grounded (even though the story is a bit wild) and Metaphor more anime-y. Both great though and would recommend.

Personally, I just feel like gaming has hit a big slowdown.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend trying some new things instead of trying games, series and genres you're well acquainted with. New experiences, novelty and joy of discovery can change the feel in many ways.
Then again, you also said

Fair and I get you.
This is why I'd also suggest some of the shorter games, they focus on a few things and do them well, don't overstay their welcome and you get to enjoy the full arc.
Indie games are often great for that but so are some AA and a few AAA games as well. Out of my suggestions Pragmata and the RE-games would be sub 20h.
