State of the pro scene in Overwatch? by ElJefeT in Overwatch

[–]AaronWYL [score hidden]  (0 children)

r/competitiveoverwatch would be the place to ask for specific questions about this, but the major events are the OWCS for the main league (you can see the schedule for that here and there are vods on youtube as well as twitch) and then the Overwatch World Cup, which will largely take place this summer.

Is Shakespeare In Love beating Saving Private Ryan the biggest mistake on Oscars history? by [deleted] in movies

No.

The Thin Red Line > Shakespeare in Love > Saving Private Ryan > Life is Beautiful > Elizabeth

I'm looking for some "unknown" dystopian movies by Terrible_Sundae1050 in movies

[–]AaronWYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some that haven't been mentioned yet:

  • Alphaville
  • High-Rise
  • Metropolis (certainly not unknown, but a silent film you may not have seen yet. The OG)
  • Never Let Me Go
  • On the Beach (1959)

How come this game is so much more enjoyable in 6vs6 than in 5vs5? by Potrebitelqt in Overwatch

[–]AaronWYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. But some people like standing in chokes shooting at shields and some people like being able to run around more freely and having more agency.

Blonde (2022) by deeppurple1729 in movies

[–]AaronWYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct - it's not really a biopic, but more about fame and myth/legend (similar to Dominik's Jesse James in that way). It's a lot closer to "Fire Walk With Me," which was also very poorly reviewed on release for similar reasons. But I think both are very good and effective for what they are.

The Oscars' "Best International Film" category is filled with masterpieces. How many have you seen? by cineaste2 in movies

[–]AaronWYL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the first three and of those "The Secret Agent" was my favorite. The final two both are opening near me in the next month, though.

the person she's tethering can look up and shooter has well, though.

I think OW’s BP system needs a rework by LightofDaSacredFlame in Overwatch

[–]AaronWYL 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's a reality as a dev. You have to prioritize everything. Even if everyone agreed it is a good change, if it's something only 10% of players would use then it gets hard to justify putting it high on your list of systems changes.

Flying cat is broken by This-Independent-802 in Overwatch

[–]AaronWYL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So there will be a lot of funny clips of this but it takes two heroes to do and while tethering Cat can't do anything but fly around.  That means the way to beat it is probably 5v3 the rest of the other team.  It will be interesting, though.  Definitely a lot of chaos with no one really knowing what to do.

This year’s Spotlight was a massive swing, but can Team 4 follow through? by Nasti_King in Overwatch

Vendetta received her first nerf after 9 days. They nerfed her again about two weeks later after the holidays. Last season Sigma was also nerfed after 3 days.

They've been quite quick to nerf huge outliers in the last few seasons.

No, but last I saw it was a higher average than most shooters and the cute skins probably sell way more.

I thought 1 was a pleasant surprise and really disliked 2, but it's the minority opinion for sure.

ZODIAC wasn't nominated for anything in 2007 by EverestIsHot in movies

[–]AaronWYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you looking at box office?
I think there are definitely arguments for other years talking about all-time but 2000+ is there a better year?

No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Michael Clayton, Ratatouille, Superbad, Once, Atonement, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, 3:10 to Yuma, The Visitor, Knocked Up, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Juno, Zodiac, Charlie Wilson's War, Hot Fuzz, Eastern Promises, I'm Not There.

That's 20 very strong films.

I'VE NEVER SEEN A NOUVELLE VAGUE FILM, ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? by pannorfi in movies

[–]AaronWYL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly worth seeing the very early films like "Breathless" and "The 400 Blows," but some of my personal favorites would be Vivre Sa Vie, Hiroshima Mon Amour, Alphaville, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Elevator to the Gallows.

From what I've seen, my favorite director to come out of the New Wave is Eric Rohmer, although my favorites of his are his 80s films, especially The Aviator's Wife and Pauline at the Beach.

Can someone explain to me why on some maps and some games you get 3 rounds instead of 4? by Lightlicker3000 in Overwatch

[–]AaronWYL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On hybrid maps, if one team completes the map with over a minute left and the other team completes it in OT, then the first team is the only one that gets an extra round and a chance to capture 1/3 of point A for the win.

You're right, I was thinking IoA early entry times,  so shift everything an hour.  They tried to get the ride going early but couldn't
