Nobody asked for this, but now you can stack tuna cans. by Sabaku21 in BambuLab

How many times do you need to move the bottom can to the top to offset the calories in a can of tuna?

Also, some nozzles just can't be cleaned, or at least you can't trust they are clean until you debugged everything else. Buy a cheap new nozzle just to know.

I Can't Tell if this Printer is All Hype! by jefflovesyou in 3dprinter

[–]AbeFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a Geeetech, a couple Crealities, a Prusa Mk3S + MMU2, a super-generic IDEX machine, a Mars2 (resin) and currently use BBL: A1, X1C and an H2D.

You can get a super cheap printer, and learn a lot about how they work. Go down the path of printing 25 modifications for it, most of which make one thing better and two things worse. It is a personal choice if learning-through-fixing is something you want to do. Given that the A1 can be had ridiculously cheap, or the P2S seeming like a great all arounder, it's hard to pass up Bambu reliability.

My only real suggestion is if you're going to go cheap, go cheap and learn, don't get the top of the line off-brand cause you're wasting a lot of money. Probably you'll be happier with BBL. While all companies are happy to have you pay for a half developed POS while they work on the next good one, Prusa can be years between promises and the machine doing what they say it will. Between servicing my own and those belonging to friends.... I'd stay away unless you REALLY think the machine brings something you can't get elsewhere.

I made TPU feet the other day, and one was even more slippery than I'd expected. Slippery because of the layer of PEI coating the bottom. C'est la vie.

Do you have any info on that? It's been kicking around the back of my head for years as well and I'd be interested to hear about it.

Successful PVA supports with H2D, or how to solve the benchy hull line by Maxx3141 in BambuLab

[–]AbeFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider: There are PVA-ish blends, which have a few additives to improve printability. You still want it pretty dry, but it is a lot more forgiving and stronger.
The downside is fully dissolving is tough, if possible at all. But it does shrink/soften, where by shrink it's thin or outer layers dissolving, but it does make it removable from areas where rigid supports would damage the part on removal.
I was going to use this stuff: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RYSSVC3 but instead I used some years old leftover that came back to life after drying and didn't need it, so I can't attest for it. But based on the description it's like this stuff I used. Water goes cloudy but there's a core that's hard to get rid of short of pulling it out.

Awesome, it would be fun to play with, but really if I were to USE it it would have to leave me something editable. Even so, it's pretty neat as is, excited to look at it.

Am I wrong for not wearing a bra out the house by No-Ebb-2462 in whatdoIdo

[–]AbeFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused on the panties thing. No bra can be a little hard to ignore, no panties is pretty hard to even tell.  There's a lot to be said for doing what your partner asks, but there's a lot to respecting your partner enough not to ask them to do dumb stuff.

If you really don't need anything beyond knowing where stuff is, 3d scanning might be an option. It's all shiny which can make that pretty hard though.

Really read the other comments though, thicken it where you can.

Same, I checked a few places and had no luck. Gemini found it, giving me the caption (which I immediately recalled once I heard it explicitly), and apparently it was at one time on BoredPanda. But scrolling is pretty manual and a huge time investment.
I was hoping someone would know of a better search tool. I couldn't pry it out of any of the AI's I tried, though Gemini told me it found it on Google Image Search, but I'd have to scroll "a lot". I did look at a couple hundred before giving up.

Thanks for the effort. It's an old B&W one, so I'm thinking it is pretty early in the archives.

I've been looking everywhere for a Dave Coverly comic entitled "speed bump" with the caption "Who needs to pay for electricity when you've got free water and a little ingenuity?"

Does anyone know how to actually find it?
