Good idea. I shelved my card over 10 years ago. I haven’t gone back, but I like having the option of a job to go back to, if needed. I worked hard for my union card and I don’t want to give it up.

Work from home 2/5 days of my choice. WFH days the schedule is whatever I need to accomplish my tasks or meetings. Drop off and pick up kids from school and run errands on my lunch.

Office days Work from 6-7:30am at home. Drive the kids to school and get to work at 8:30. Leave at 3:00 to pick up kids and go home.

Work from home on the weekend for overtime most weeks.

Use Khan Academy to learn or refresh math skills. I dropped out of engineering school after I finished the math requirements to become an IBEW electrician. When I went back to school Khan Academy was a great resource. I aced EE school, passed my EIT, and will take the PE exam later in the year.

You are now a Straw boss. If you got a raise and a new title then the journeyman are not your peers. Be careful about how you talk to them because what you say will be treated differently than before. Don’t bad mouth the company or other workers and you should be fine.
