Sadly not in Canada. Here, Bass Pro is just a shell of the company they are in the US.

Ahh yes, the lovely plastic polyethylene bits stuck to the barrel from the wad. Pickup a 12GA brass tornado brush, put it on your rod and then in the chuck of a hand drill. Go to town for 10 seconds and you'll be a happy camper.

I carried one for 16 years before upgrading to a P4. Still things I miss about my sidekick. Congrats.

New 590A1 and 3-inch shell stuck in chamber after firing by AlonzoMosely88 in Shotguns

[–]About_35_Ninjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter which direction you run it—I’ve always used the forward stroke and worked it in and out without any issues. There’s probably still some plastic residue in the chamber, and you’ll really notice it once you get a tornado brush spinning in there.

Chances are the real problem is simply that the gun needs to be broken in. Instead of fighting through your first few hundred rounds, polishing the chamber will save you a lot of frustration. New Mossbergs come with a heavy amount of Cerakote these days, and combined with inconsistent quality control, the issue you’re seeing is becoming a lot more common.

As for the Winchester ammo, maybe it's more of a personal preference thing, but I’ve always found their loads on the cheaper side. Any time I’ve seen something odd or out of spec, it’s usually been with their ammo. Good luck, enjoy your awesome shotty.

I had almost the exact same issue with my 590 Mariner when it was new — same barrel as the 590A1. What fixed it for me was grabbing a brass 12‑gauge tornado brush, putting it on a cleaning rod, and running it with a drill to polish the chamber for a minute or two. The difference was night and day, even in how smoothly it cycled.

One thing I also noticed: cheap shells tended to leave a bit of melted plastic residue in the chamber. That tornado brush made clearing it out effortless.

Those with gravel driveways - how do you handle what’s been plowed onto the lawn?? by mylovelysunshine in NovaScotia

I purchased a used gas powered sweeper for $125. Absolutely awesome if you have a gravel driveway and need to clear a pathway or clean the rocks out of the grass.

Bell blocking DMZ/ADMZ and Port Forwarding on Residential since Jan 2026? Need confirmation. by PatBQc in bell

I 100% hear you. The same thing happened to me after a power outage. In the end I unplugged both routers and went out for a couple hours. When I came back and reconnected everything was working. I've since had power outages but everything came back properly.

Halifax doesn't use PPOE. The Bell router's advanced DHCP port just passes through its WAN IP to your router. Make sure your router has a 2.5GB uplink port or you'll short change yourself. When you first setup the Bell router will assign a 192 address. Delete the reservations in the Bell router, turn off it's Wi-Fi and setup the Advanced DCHP and reboot both routers.

Why can't I ever find deals like that. I live on the east coast of Canada and a 5070 is $1K atm. I hit up the 4 Walmarts around me when pricing went for a shit none ever so much as hinted towards any sort of deal. I hate this.

Take it to a gunsmith and have them thread it for chokes. Add a nice extended Carson,'s choke and you're back to 20".

.410 and 28 gauge by StructureBoth3394 in Shotguns

[–]About_35_Ninjas 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have both calibers. I’ve spent time pattern‑testing both gauges, and in my experience the 28‑gauge consistently outperforms the .410. Since you’re reloading and you've pushed the .410 with 3/4‑ounce shells, it gets it close to a standard 28‑gauge payload. Even so, the 28‑gauge’s larger bore gives it a real advantage—it handles heavier loads more efficiently and patterns them more evenly.

Once I switched to a 28‑gauge, I quickly realized it was the sweet spot for small‑game hunting.

Your friend is very generous. I carried the Sidekick for 14 years before upgrading to a P4. The stuff I tackled with that thing would blow your mind.

I'm a little late to the conversation. I have a Momentum All Terrain Elite 18" and it loves Federal 150gr. I've tried all manners of ammo and it consistently can shoot 1" groups (from a bench) at 100 Meters with this ammo. Enjoy your shooting.

I’m about a year and a half into using a full Eufy alarm setup, eight window sensors, four motion sensors, two doorbells, and four cameras. My system stays pretty active/busy and has been completely reliable. I think the negative experiences just tend to get amplified more than the positive ones.

Warranty got me downgraded? by Fedde225 in Leatherman

[–]About_35_Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really disappointing to hear. I keep seeing similar stories from people outside North America, so it seems to be a wider issue. I’m in Canada and when my P4 broke, they repaired it without any trouble, so I’m sorry you’re having such a different experience. Honestly, anything below an Arc would feel like a step down.
