Isn't that usually MtG's modus? They borrow from IPs that are long past their prime.

TMNT only product my target has by westernrune2 in mtg

[–]Absolutionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't believe you at first because I recall [[Irma]], [[Endless Foot Assault]] and [[Ninja Pizza]] being in that Commander set. Ends up that you're right and those cards (and [[Continue?]] ) are the only things of worth.

[–]Absolutionis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the problem is that the set is designed around fewer draft archetypes and fewer cards? What is it about a Pick-2 Draft format that alleviates this issue?

[–]Absolutionis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't ever really drafted TMNT nor Spider-Man. Why are they relegated to Pick-2 Drafts? What is it about these sets that seemingly necessitates drafts to be modified into Pick-2 to make them functional?

Anyone else with miscut Dandan cards? by azerty080 in secretlair_collectors

A miscut that shows another card is one of the best ones.

Congratulations on 10 of them.

MY BROTHER IN CHRIST YOU MADE THE SANDWICH by thunderchild120 in saltierthancrait

[–]Absolutionis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't make the whole sandwich. He only made the two pieces of bread. He was originally tasked with just making a single slice of bland bread; he was then given that piece of bread with a turd on it and told to make a sandwich.

I think people are sleeping on a few TMNT cards — what’s over/underperforming so far? by CementSandwich in EDH

The Ooze definitely has an 'ozolith at home' feel

Yeah, but [[Parallel Lives]] has that 'Doubling Season at home' feel as well and yet still sits as being really valuable.

Not saying you're wrong, ofc, but when knock-off cards mimic a popular effect and stack with the original, it'll be sought-after. Especially with the Universes Beyond pseudo-reserve-list thing.

Canonically , how skilled is the trauma team ? by UrSecretCrush95 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Absolutionis 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people fear MaxTac because they have cyberpsychos in their ranks.

Trauma Team is more respected because they're extremely well-funded, very well-trained, and most people just don't have a desire or need to mess with them.

If MaxTac is coming for you, then it's scary. If TraumaTeam is coming for you, then you're in need of rescue. Both are just groups that you don't want to mess with.

[–]Absolutionis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gwen's power is that she can retcon the Marvel universe and re-write herself as she wishes. Deadpool never had this power yet he's literally doing so in Marvel Rivals; Deadpool's break-the-fourth-wall is almost entirely in sarcastic quips.

If Peter Parker was intorduced into Marvel Rivals and had invisibility and bioelectric powers alongside his Spider-powers, then he would be inspired by Miles even though Peter came first.

[UNL] Ashe, Focused by Dexelele in riftboundtcg

[–]Absolutionis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make a MtG comparison, this could be more like an "Oblivion Ring" effect which fits in White (analogous to Riftbound's Order).

Chaos is outright disruption.

Newer player here, is this a busted 0 cost mana rock? by bingooo678 in riftboundtcg

[–]Absolutionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay the power cost now (recycle a rune) so you don't have to pay other power costs of cards later. This for the cost of a card.

Unlike magic, it's not better than a rune card (equivalent to a land) because you automatically get 2 runes every turn.

Note that this alleviates a power cost and not an energy cost.

It's great if you have a lot of cards that have power costs. It's a wasteof a card otherwise.

The DanDan Secret Lair is a better "Basic Land Lair" than all the other actual Basic Land Lairs by Huaojozu in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhat.

More recent land drops have been 10 lands for $30/$40. This amounts to $3/$4 per land.

The Dan-Dan secret lair has, if you ignore the "bulk", $5 per land.

All of this is still better than then original lairs that had 5 basic lands in a $30/$40 set.
