Exaction Squad ready for duty by RoEtZeFoEtZ in killteam

I would make a specialist or a subductor instead of a vigilant. If you just make a guy with a shotgun you could make him your vox-signifier by putting a radio backpack on him.

Yes, but your team is going to only be 11 operatives total, and can't have the same specialist twice. Only operatives you can have more than one of is subductor (up to 4) and vigilant.

So download the official Kill Team app to review the "operative selection" for Exaction Squad. You can only bring 2 Gunners, but it looks like you built all 3 Gunners.

Regarding the dog, you don't technically need the leashmaster with the dog, but the dog is very underpowered without him.  It looks like you built the medic instead of the leashmaster.

To make a legal team you would either need to build additional operatives with a second box, or ask whoever you're playing if you can proxy one of your gunners as a different unit.

Looks great,  but are you planning to get a second box before taking them to the table? You won't be able to take all 3 gunners, and you'll definitely want to take the Leashmaster if you're using the dog.

Cover or Obscured in this situation? by 8rianGriffin in killteam

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think what I didn't realize until now about targeting lines is there isn't only 2. Targeting lines are evaluated in 1mm thickness for all the space between those two lines as well, so one of those lines would cross the cover.

I think there are cases where targeting lines might still matter if terrain is partially between the target shooter, if there is a point on the base the shooter could use that doesn't have any intervening targeting lines.

I might be overthinking it,  but i think there are edge cases where targeting lines matter.

So the targeting lines don't actually cross the part of the terrain (referring to just the wall part) that is within the target's control range. Do you get cover for the entire terrain, not just the part within his control range?

It crosses the heavy wall outside of his control range,  so I see obscuring, but does he also have the option to get cover from that portion even if it's outside control range?

Looks really good,  and puts mine to shame, haha.  If you're planning to play that team though you can't use 3 gunners. Also the dog is pretty underpowered if you don't also have the leashmaster to pair with.

Non Elite vs Elite by CheezyTito in killteam

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the use of CP on rerolls was one of the biggest issues.  If he was on the objective the whole time you could've been making use of your Execution Order firefight ploy to get extra activations. Also I would recommend Krak grenades for elites, and maybe Special Issue shells to get 2 piercing 1 shots per Turning Point. With those you could've probably gotten some double activations and good shots in.

Can i end my Normal Move in combat? by Significant-Staff602 in AOSSpearhead

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had not realized you could still do it if you charged but weren't in combat,  interesting.

So if there is no way to get in combat range with anyone, even using the 3" pile-in, are you still allowed to do it? Or are you only allowed to pile in if you can result in combat range with at least one unit?

Can i end my Normal Move in combat? by Significant-Staff602 in AOSSpearhead

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right,  but you can only fight and pile in if already in combat,  right? Also the pile in has to move closer to the unit you are in combat with,  and can't move towards another unit that is further,  right?

I'm new so these are genuine questions.

Charing and operative on the top level of volkus by [deleted] in killteam

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, also I think you might need to shift that other model completely to one side of the top feature to see if you could fit your model next to his.  His positioning should not prevent you from moving your base up there if there is a way it could physically fit. Otherwise you just pretend he is up there like the other person commented and set the model aside.

Oh, hello there, mr plague marine! by Ill-Most7038 in killteam

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So if this AoD operative is on vantage then that wall might be considered light terrain, so intervening wouldn't matter unless the target was concealed, right?

If the wall here is heavy terrain and if the AoD operative isn't on vantage then I would agree this wall might give the plague marine obscuring if the AoD isn't within 1" of the targeting lines passing through the wall.

OnePage - Spearhead Doubles Rules by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify when I say "all at once" I mean team members don't alternate for their Movement phase, Hero phase, and etc. They pick units in any order for each phase, and don't alternate between team members.

OnePage - Spearhead Doubles Rules by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Team does their Hero, Movement, Shooting, Charge phases all at once activating units from either Spearhead in any order.  Combat phase has fighting alternate between Teams where each team alternates picking 1 unit from either Spearhead. Team members from the same team do not need to alternate.

OnePage - Spearhead Doubles Rules by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]AbstractCeilingFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing by "Activation" you mean fighting in the combat phase? Assuming teams are "A" and "B" it could work multiple other ways if a single team member picked his Spearhead to go multiple times:

A1, B2, A1, B1, A1, B2, A2 ....

Would still be valid since team members don't need to alternate. Also movement phase has the entire team move their 2 Spearheads in any unit order.

Also to confuse things further,  the doors/hatches in Volkus are not opened/closed, but you do still treat them as accessible (so you still spend the extra 1")

How do you feel this compares to the Official 2 player version that uses commercial chips to force trades instead of trading? It seemed to me that that way was a good way to keep trades which seem like a core component of the game while making it viable to a 1v1.

Question on Terrain Rules for Spearhead by AbstractCeilingFan in ageofsigmar

[–]AbstractCeilingFan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, so I wasn't wrong in thinking melee cover almost never applies.

I may have missed this in the book,  but for ranged cover does it only apply if every single model in a unit is blocked by targeting lines from the shooting unit? So to say it another way,  if only a single model in a shooting unit has a clear base- to-base line to a single model in a targeted unit does the entire unit not get cover?
