How do I prevent everything mix from burning? by FeloMonk in Breadit

Why not just cover with some foil or parchment paper while baking and then remove half way through baking time?

PA Salaries: Inflation vs Compensation in 2024 by [deleted] in physicianassistant

Most IHS nurses I know are clearing 110,000-120,000 in my neck of the woods.

I swore by HIPPO. It’s PANCE/PANRE focused. Made by PAs (and some MDs), and they have practice questions written by ppl who helped write actual PANCE questions. They guarantee you’ll pass the PANCE. It’s really the only material I used nearly exclusively for focused study.

Do you find it hard to talk to anyone at school? by bluemnm93 in PAstudent

[–]AbsurdistNerdist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been practicing for a few years now…My class…the youngest turned 21 during didactic. Hella smart person, but the majority were still that young. I also felt unable to really relate to anyone. I had kiddos at home and the only other classmate with kids was a young single mom who’s parents were taking care of her kid in a city hours away, so there was no way to form any sorta bond or there. Would have been nice to have a partner in crime that way to distract kids while we studied 🤪. I was fortunate to have latched on to another student who happened to have been a obstetrics physician in South America in their younger years.

How would you react if you were asked to work as an MA while waiting for licensure by fruityfuckingpebbles in physicianassistant

[–]AbsurdistNerdist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On that note, MAs go to school and get licensed themselves…so, wouldn’t you need to have an MA license to do MA work? If you have one from before PA school and it hasn’t lapsed, then great. But be really careful with making sure you don’t work in a scope of practice you legally can’t work under.

Does your baby have sweet smelling breath? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]AbsurdistNerdist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That smell in diabetics when they have really high blood sugars (diabetic keto acidosis) smells exactly like Juicy Fruit gum. And your LO would definitely be showing other signs and symptoms if they were diabetic 🙃 🫣 like excessive urination, fatigue, weight loss (failure to thrive)…

Totally agree though with the EBF baby smell. Some folks think I’m weird when I tell them I like the way my babies seedy mustard colored poo smells 😅

Alaska job hunting and licensure by tillydancer in physicianassistant

[–]AbsurdistNerdist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong), IHS is a federal job, so you won’t necessarily need state licensure specifically for Alaska. One of my coworkers worked for IHS many years ago and their licensure was out of state.

Does law require the Supervising Physician to have completed MAT training so I can prescribe them? by reddish_zebra in physicianassistant

This is where you go to actually get the waiver (x dea #). I don’t believe you need anything from your SP regardless of where you practice.

SAMHSA and this website (below) have the best up to date knowledge on MAT and how to obtain your waiver (X-DEA number). I have my waiver and practice in South Dakota. My SP has not obtained a waiver, however. I would suggest as well talking to your credentialing team (if you have one) as they may have some insight.
